Sony has announced five new IP cameras that feature its IPELA ENGINE signal processing system. The cameras strengthen Sony’s offering for outdoor applications and expand the company’s lineup of entry and mid-level products into new markets. For example, the new W Series cameras are suitable for mission-critical or wide area surveillance and SNC-VB635 is designed for environments with exceptionally low lighting conditions.

“Sony continuously looks for ways to expand and improve its product offering, and all of these products meet specialised needs within the surveillance industry,” said Ryan Kawashima, Strategic Marketing Manager for Video Security, Sony Europe. “Sony is again leading the industry in terms of camera features and image quality.”

All of the new cameras include the IPELA ENGINE technology platform, with the SNC-VB635 harnessing IPELA ENGINE EX and the W series being the first to use IPELA ENGINE PRO. They include Sony’s wide-dynamic range technology View-DR, XDNR noise reduction technology, and maximum frame rates of 60 frames a second in HD/Full HD resolution.

W Series IP cameras

The SNC-WR600 and SNC-WR602 have industry leading features of 30x optical zoom, pan speeds of 700 degrees per second and 130dB wide dynamic range, which delivers clear picture quality even in strong backlit environments, thanks to the IPELA ENGINE PRO signal processing system. These new W Series IP cameras complement the existing W-Series range composed of the SNC-WR630 and SNC-WR632. They have all the capabilities found in Sony’s IPELA ENGINE PRO technology platform, along with new features such as gyroscopic image stabilisation, image defogging, and focal plane distortion correction to offer stable images under severe outside conditions. The range includes two indoor models in HD and Full HD, and two fully integrated outdoor models in HD and Full HD, which have IP66 and IK 10 ratings, making them waterproof and highly vandal resistant. The strong feature set makes these cameras ideal for mission-critical or wide area surveillance applications such as in airports, stadiums, casinos, and city and border surveillance.

The SNC-WR630 and SNC-WR632 (Full HD) are planned to be available through Sony’s product distribution channel starting in December 2013. The SNC-WR600 and SNC-WR602 (HD) will be available slightly later in January next year.

SNC-VB635 half-inch full HD CMOS sensor IP camera

With its extraordinary light sensitivity and full HD resolution, the SNC-VB635 camera is designed for use in highly demanding applications such as on transportation, city surveillance and energy. The SNC-VB635 is a fixed camera that features a half-inch Exmor CMOS sensor which generates exceptional picture quality even in very low-light conditions. Other key features include true day/night capabilities, IPELA ENGINE EX, ViewDR, XDNR, VE, and DEPA advanced and an RS-485 port for pan/tilt head control.

The SNC-VB635 is expected to be available through Sony’s product distribution channel in the December, 2013.
