Milestone Systems has won a Govies Award for the second year in a row in the category of Video Management Systems
Milestone achieved Security50 global listing for the second time

Milestone Systems, the open platform company in IP video management software (VMS), has won two more accolade.  The newly streamlined version of its VMS user interface called XProtect® Smart Client 7 was awarded a Platinum Govies Award 2012. The company also attended the first-ever Security50 summit, having attained the Security50 global listing for the second time.

Milestone Systems has won a Govies Award for the second year in a row in the category of Video Management Systems. The winners were announced at the 2012 GovSec event, with Milestone XProtect Smart Client 7 topping the competition for its streamlined, innovative new user interface. Last year, the award was bestowed to Milestone for XProtect® Corporate 4, VMS for large-scale, high-security installations and unlimited numbers of cameras.

The GovSec event was held April 2-4 in Washington, D.C. It was here that Security Products magazine announced the winners of its 2012 "Govies" Government Security Awards that honor outstanding government products in a variety of categories, including Video Management Software, IP Video Surveillance Cameras, Perimeter Security, Access Control, Homeland Security, Fire and Life Safety, IT Network Security, Cloud Computing and Storage, Wireless Security and Mobile Security.

"XProtect Smart Client won the top award clearly because of its ability to meet the needs of the end user," said Ralph C. Jensen, Editor-in-Chief for Security Products magazine. "It is easier to navigate than ever with streamlined functionality for viewing live or recorded video, responding to alarms and exporting evidence."

The Security Products’ Government Security Awards were launched in 2009. With 53 entries this year, participation grew 40 percent over 2011. The winning entries were displayed in the Govies booth at GovSec – the Government Security Conference & Expo featuring the U.S. Law Enforcement Conference & Expo, which was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Shortly after this, Messe Frankfurt held the first-ever Security50 Annual Summit on April18th in Taipei, Taiwan at Secutech, a leading security exhibition in Asia that gathered more than 600 worldwide manufacturing elites in the industry. Security 50 exhibits the top 50 companies in the physical security industry based on product revenue. It examines the financial performance of manufacturers to measure the industry’s health. Milestone has now been listed in this group two years running.

All Security 50 participants were required to provide audited financial reports. Only revenue generated from physical security product sales is counted. Global manufacturers are ranked each year by product sales for a fair comparison, where the sales figures exclude service and maintenance revenues that can vary by region. It is not an advertiser index - placement in the ranking depends solely on objective financial data.

Mr. Parson Lee, Managing Director at Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media, says: "Since the ranking's inception in 2003, it has always been a popular annual feature in our a&s International security magazine because it reveals the year's top security players by product sales revenue. Our new Security 50 website now offers industry players an open platform to gather the first-hand security trends and mingle with other sector professionals."
