Honeywell has announced new mobile remote access capability to its popular HRDP H.264 digital video recorder (DVR). The new Remote -View app allows users to view live video on their Apple iPhone® from CCTV surveillance systems that use Honeywell's HRDP H.264 DVR.Users download the free Remote-View app from the Apple iTunes store and set up connection parameters. Then, they simply select the DVR from a drop-down list and click Connect to see live video on their iPhone device. Instead of using a computer in order to bring up a GUI or web browser where they can dial in, the functionality is completely mobile."Today, almost everyone is carrying a wireless device of some sort," said Bill Durno, global product marketing manager, Honeywell. "This new app allows anyone with an HRDP H.264 DVR, Internet connectivity, and an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to see their office or home anytime, anywhere within the coverage area for their mobile device. We also expect to support additional mobile platforms to increase remote access capability in the near," added Durno. The HRDP H.264 DVR, part of Honeywell's cost effective Performance Series portfolio of video surveillance products, supports a feature set comparable to many high-end embedded DVRs but at a much lower price. The DVR offers H.264 video compression for clear crisp video and extended storage times. It also supports a user-friendly front panel control, mouse operation, and IR remote control, wizards for fast and easy setup, and graphical search engines to help operators find evidence video quickly. An internal DVD-RW and two USB ports make it easy for users to copy evidence video to portable media. The HRDP records at a rate of up to 200 ips PAL. When it detects motion, the HRDP can automatically boost the recording rate to capture additional details of the scene. It is ideal for a wide variety of surveillance applications requiring high image per second recording or for capturing maximum detail of activity through building entrances and exits, such as small to medium-sized retail, financial, warehouse, and educational facilities. For more information visit www.honeywell.com/security/uk/performance.Apple, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.Add to Compare

Samsung has taken positive action in response to the worldwide shortage of 1TB HDDs by introducing new models to its H.264 SRD series of DVRs. "The immediate availability of these new models will ensure continuity of supply to our customers during a time when all market sectors, and not just the security industry, are affected by the severe shortage of 1TB HDDs," said Peter Ainsworth, Senior Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. "A new 500GB storage version, which shares the same features as the other DVRs in the SRD series, offers an easily upgradable and cost-effective solution for those looking for the best quality digital video recording." Samsung has also introduced models which are being supplied without HDDs to give customers the flexibility to purchase additional approved HDDs by way of one of its HDD upgrade kits, which can be easily installed on-site without voiding the warranty of the DVR. These are available as 500GB upgrades and there are currently limited stocks of 1TB or 2TB upgrade kits also available. The eight and sixteen channel models all have built-in DVD drives featuring Virtual Progressive Scan (VPS) which eliminates the problem of blurred edges on moving objects, to provide picture-perfect still frames whilst a built-in web-server allows live and playback viewing options with the ability to back up incidents via a web browser. A dual codec operation delivers different streams for both high performance recording and optimised transmission, and selected models offer both Pelco Coaxitron and Samsung SSVC coaxial control protocols to provide users with full control of camera functions, as well as access to set-up menus from the convenience of a control room.Additional installer and operator friendly features include a multiple language on-screen display and a fully removable back panel so that hard drives can be swapped and upgraded without having to unplug all the cables. Data from ATM, POS or access control devices can be captured with the text data saved along with associated images to be played back if required at a later date.Available from all Samsung distributors, the new DVRs are offered with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.Add to Compare
IndigoVision Doubles Resilient NVR Storage with 2TB Disks IndigoVision, leading manufacturer of complete IP Video security solutions, introduces 2TB disks to its NVR-AS 3000 range of 'Plug & Go' Linux Network Video Recorders. This doubles storage capacity without increasing physical footprint, power consumption or associated environmental control equipment. With up to 6TB of usable RAID 5 storage in a single unit, the NVR-AS 3000 is a compelling alternative to Windows-based storage. Resilience, reliability and low-maintenance are the key to the NVR-AS 3000's "Plug & Go" capability. They support fully redundant power supplies and fully redundant Gigabit Ethernet connections as well as options for RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5. Linux means no upgrades/patches as required with Windows storage and its built-in firewall make it secure. Extremely low power consumption and heat dissipation enable units to be rack- or desk-mounted. IndigoVision's distributed architecture means that NVRs can be located at any point on the network, for example near clusters of cameras in order to reduce bandwidth across the network. Using "Control Center", IndigoVision's Video Management Software, advanced redundancy strategies can be easily implemented. Backup NVRs can continuously record the same video in parallel to primary NVRs (mirroring) or automatically takeover recording if a primary NVR fails. Backup NVRs can be located at a different physical location to primary NVRs, adding further resilience to physical disruption.NVRs record full framerate video and audio from 64 cameras and playback 20 streams simultaneously. Models are available with a range of storage capacities from either fixed disks or hot-swappable removable drives. All disks are rated for 24/7 recording and have a 3-year warranty. The high-performance of the NVR-AS 3000 products coupled with IndigoVision's class-leading compression technology means that each NVR can record both MPEG-4 and H.264 video from multiple cameras for long periods. For example, a single NVR-AS 3000 can record H.264 video from 32 IndigoVision cameras continuously at 4SIF, full framerate, based on moderate motion levels for over 31 days. To record for longer periods, simply spread cameras across more NVRs; for example, for 90 days use 10 cameras per NVR. NVRs record video from both IndigoVision IP cameras and third party ONVIF cameras. Due to the NVRs' ultra low power consumption running costs are much lower compared to Windows-based storage. They can be stacked densely in a 19 inch rack, which requires less AC cooling plant and reduces physical footprint.Add to Compare
