PROMISE Technology, Inc., a leading developer of high-performance storage solutions optimised for the requirements of video surveillance, recently updated their Vess A2000 Series NVR storage appliance to deliver greater support for the industry's top Video Management Software (VMS) solutions, provide up to double the performance throughput for HD (1280x720) video in RAID6 configurations and offer support for the new PROMISE Surveillance Solution Planner tool which helps determine the overall installation requirements of a given project.

PROMISE has partnered with many VMS vendors for this service release by certifying the Vess A2000 appliance with the top solutions in the industry, including applications from AxxonSoft, Genetec™, OnSSI, SeeTec, and Milestone Systems, while also adding support for Windows Server® 2008 R2. With a new operating system supported and a broad range of VMS validated, it offers customers more possibilities when building surveillance deployments. Additionally, the Vess A2000 Series now supports the Milestone XProtect® plug-in which allows users to manage the Vess A2000 series via the management user interface of XProtect. The PROMISE WebPAM ProE management graphic user interface is embedded in the Milestone XProtect application environment and runs as an integrated part of the software and its client applications, making it significantly more convenient for users to manage their storage.

The update to the Vess A2000 appliance includes support for the new PROMISE Surveillance Solution Planner, a comprehensive tool that helps determine the overall installation requirements of a given video surveillance project. It is designed to calculate the total storage space and bandwidth needed, in addition to the requirements for recording servers and external storage, while also including a topology of the installation for reference. This tool makes it easier to build a high-performance surveillance deployment designed specifically for the security requirements of each installation.

With surveillance deployments requiring an increasing number of cameras at high frame rates and high resolution, there is a great demand placed on throughput. The new service release has further fine-tuned the performance of the Vess A2000 to deliver up to double the performance throughput for HD (1280x720) video in RAID6 configurations compared to the original release.

"We are very pleased to enhance the Vess A2000 Series surveillance appliance to offer added coverage throughout the surveillance ecosystem while making it easier to manage and build surveillance installations," said James Lee, CEO, PROMISE Technology. "Vess users now have more flexibility to customise their solution to meet budget and security needs."

The updated Vess A2000 appliance for IP video surveillance is available now through the PROMISE global network of distributors and value added resellers.
