Eaton’s security business has announced its intention to develop both its specification and specialist distribution channels by promoting Orlaith Palmer to the role of sales and marketing manager.

Bringing a wealth of channel marketing experience to this newly created position, Palmer has worked for a number of global organisations, including Toshiba TEC UK Imaging Systems and Ricoh, where she devised and implemented a series of successful channel management based initiatives that drove up sales and increased market penetration across Europe. She joined Cooper Security in early 2013 as its marketing manager and has played an instrumental role in integrating it into the Eaton organisation.

Eaton acquired Cooper Industries in 2012 and, as part of one of the world’s most renowned electrical companies; Eaton’s security business will also benefit from enhanced research and development (R&D) capabilities.

Palmer believes that unifying marketing with the sales function has numerous commercial benefits and commented, “Since I joined the company I have been particularly impressed with the excellent reputation that the Menvier and Scantronic products have amongst installers and users of our industry leading security equipment. Now, as part of Eaton, I’m looking forward to building even stronger relationships with our customers by implementing a channel management policy that grows our market share and achieves broad product penetration through our valued distribution partners.”

With a number of exciting channel marketing strategies already underway for 2014, Palmer will work closely with and report into Eaton’s UK country sales manager, Simon Reed, as well as Matthew Phelps, managing director of Eaton’s Security Business.
