Amberstone Security, one of Europe’s pioneer suppliers of intelligence-led manned guarding, security technology solutions, and loss prevention services, warns of increased risk due to busier trading periods over the Platinum Jubilee weekend.

As the nation comes together to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 70th year on the throne, it is vital that the retail and hospitality sectors are prepared for the additional security risks that busier periods bring.

Expanding security measures

With an extra bank holiday giving the UK a four-day weekend from Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th June extended opening hours for pubs and bars, and a range of community events taking place across the country, businesses should consider expanding their security measures.

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) reported a ‘bunting boost’ from the Diamond Jubilee in 2012

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) reported a ‘bunting boost’ from the Diamond Jubilee in 2012, with increased footfall and sales going up by 3.5% overall. Stephen Robertson, then BRC Director said: "A trip to the shops played a big part in preparations for the occasion. The week leading up to the long weekend was a stand-out for the retail sector. Food and clothing and footwear retailers had the best of it as people bought in special food and drink and encouraged by warmer weather, some treated themselves to shorts, dresses, and sandals.”

Work and leisure environments

If the upcoming Platinum Jubilee weekend has a similar effect to that of the 2012 Jubilee, then businesses need to start preparing now – as Dan Hardy, Managing Director of Amberstone Security, explains: “These events can be unpredictable, and responding properly is critical. Preparation is the key to successfully supporting the safety and security of employees and customers to ensure they feel safe within their work and leisure environments.”

Amberstone Security offers a range of security solutions to protect businesses, their staff, and customers, ensure events run smoothly, and to make sure any incidents are addressed swiftly and with minimal disruption.
