GSOC operators use Qognify Situator’s workflows to support the company’s efforts to identify fraud

One of the world’s largest companies in the oil and gas sector has saved more than a million dollars thanks to security solutions from Qognify, formerly NICE Security, that enable the organisation to remotely monitor and manage security for 25 locations. In its first year using Qognify security solutions, the company saved $1.2 million – and it anticipates even greater savings in 2016.

The company, which spent $8 million annually in guard costs prior to implementing the Qognify solutions, now uses Qognify Situator and NiceVision to remotely monitor sites, including asset storage locations, transportation hubs, shipping and receiving locations, manufacturing facilities, education centres, and administration buildings. By moving work that was previously conducted by on-site security guards to the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), the company has cut costs 15 percent. Situator connects and correlates access control, intercoms, analytics, cameras, and other systems and sensors, and brings real-time situational awareness to the GSOC so operators can manage day-to-day security tasks more efficiently and effectively.

In addition to the $1.2 million in cost savings, the company has experienced other notable benefits from its implementation of Qognify solutions:

  • Situator’s efficient incident management capabilities enabled the company to bring an outsourced critical response hotline in house. This has also helped the company streamline the flow of information to senior management in critical situations and mitigate incidents faster.
  • Using Situator’s remote monitoring capabilities and automated workflows, the company has reduced the average time to process a vehicle through a gate from five minutes to three minutes.
  • Situator’s automated workflows and ability to keep detailed and accurate logs on delivery vehicles and visitors has made it easier for the company to comply with Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards’ (CFATS) documentation and auditing requirements.
  • GSOC operators use Situator’s workflows to support the company’s efforts to identify fraud (such as excessive credit expenditures and other discrepancies). Situator provides an auditable record of fraudulent activity and follow-up actions taken.

“In most large organisations, security is viewed as a cost centre with little positive impact on the bottom line, but not so for this progressive company,” said Moti Shabtai, President of Qognify. “Through its innovative use of Qognify security solutions, the company has been able to better secure its remote sites and produce significant savings in the process. In so doing, the company has shifted from a security-centric model to one that incorporates operational efficiencies through its ability to positively impact the bottom line.”
