Genetec Inc., known for its development of enterprise physical security software, is set to unveil its latest investigative technologies at the NRF PROTECT 2026. The event will take place from June 8-10 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.
At booth 1017, Genetec will demonstrate how its Security Center SaaS can enhance retailer capabilities in managing incidents that involve multiple stores, systems, and camera networks. This demonstration aims to streamline the process by which security and loss prevention teams consolidate evidence from various locations.
Enhancing retail investigations
Retail investigations often start with minimal details, such as partial descriptions, estimated timeframes, vehicle types, or repeating behaviour patterns. These investigations can quickly expand across multiple stores, regions, and systems.
For larger retail operations, the disjointed nature of tools and the necessity for manual video analysis often hinder prompt investigations. Security Center SaaS aims to centralise these investigative processes within a unified, cloud-based platform, aiding teams in security, asset protection, and loss prevention to accelerate from discovery to resolution.
Advanced search and visualization tools
The platform introduces capabilities allowing investigators to search through video feeds
The platform introduces capabilities allowing investigators to search through video feeds from varied locations and camera models with the use of natural language query inputs. These inputs can include clothing brands, vehicle makes and models, and specific activities or timeframes. This search functionality enables teams to validate incidents, hone in on relevant activities, and track movements across scenes effectively. Additionally, investigators can construct a narrative of events across locations through visualised movement patterns.
For structured investigations, the platform allows for organising video clips, snapshots, tags, and other related evidence into cohesive investigations with chronological storyboards. AI-driven description summaries enhance documentation efficiency, which facilitates collaboration with law enforcement and internal stakeholders and reduces time spent on manual video reviews.
Upgrading security practices
Scott Thomas, National Director for Signature Brands at Genetec Inc., commented on the escalating security challenges faced by retailers, which include organised retail crime and incidents occurring across multiple sites. "With the new investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS, retailers can move faster from a partial description or initial incident report to connected evidence and actionable findings. This helps loss prevention and security teams build stronger cases, improve coordination, and resolve incidents more efficiently," stated Thomas.
Security Center SaaS supports both cloud-based and hybrid systems, allowing retailers to modernise security practices across various sites, including stores, distribution centres, and corporate offices. The platform integrates video management, access control, intrusion detection, automation, forensic search, and investigative workflows into a single interface, offering a comprehensive security solution.
