With the recent type examination certificates granted by DNV, KR, LR, and ABS, B&R's X20 system has demonstrated its capability to withstand the severe conditions typical of marine applications.
Temperature Adaptability
The X20 system's extended temperature range supports operations in extreme cold, such as in polar areas or cold storage facilities.
The coated variants of X20 components are now specified to function starting from as low as -40°C. This specification is achieved through special coatings on the circuit boards that guard against condensation, corrosive gases, and other detrimental factors, making the system highly reliable under varied conditions.
Optimised for Extensive Power Networks
Further enhancing its utility in maritime domains, the X20 series benefits from an expanded input voltage range. The system's 24 VDC power supply accommodates fluctuations from -25% to +30%, equivalent to a voltage range of 18 to 31.2 VDC.
This improvement negates the necessity for distributed power supplies even over expansive networks like those on ships, counteracting voltage drops in lengthy cable runs and ensuring consistent performance.
