Moxa is pleased to announce the launch of a new iF Product Design Award-winning product: the VPort 16-M12, an EN50155 certified, compact sized, fixed-IP network camera designed for rolling stock IP surveillance applications. The rugged VPort 16 features a wide -25 to 55°C operating temperature, vibration-resistant M12 connectors, sturdy metal housing, and a fireproof tempered glass cover. Moxa’s Dynastream™ technology is included to optimise network performance using dynamic bandwidth management.

High Quality Image and Video Streams

The VPort 16-M12 uses a 1/3" CCD image sensor and advanced 3D-deinterlacing hardware enhancement to deliver high quality images in low lux environments, such as rolling stock application environments. It also supports a maximum of 2 H.264 and 1 MJPEG simultaneous video streams. Operators can assign each individual stream to a specific purpose: for example, an H.264 stream for live video viewing, and a MJPG stream for archiving to data storage.

Rugged Hardware Design

Certified to the EN50155 standard, the VPort 16-M12 delivers highly reliable video transmissions in tough vehicular conditions. The VPort 16-M12 is IP66-rated for protection against rain and dust, and the vandal proof IP camera also supports a wide operating temperature range of -25 to 55°C. The built-in M12 connector provides a secure Ethernet connection against vibration and shock. Robust metal housing and a tempered glass lens protect the VPort from heat and flames. With the addition of 802.3af PoE (Power over Ethernet) support, the VPort 16-M12 eliminates the need to set up additional power cables and outlets, and by doing so reduces the risks of power failures or Internet disconnections.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

The VPort 16-M12 supports both surface mounting and embedded mounting, and can be rotated 360° horizontally and 90° vertically for convenient installation. The camera supports five different lens types with focal lengths ranging from 3 mm to 16 mm, so users can select a configuration that best meets their viewing angle and distance requirements. DHCP opt 66/67 is also supported to make mass installation simple using automatic configuration. The VPort 16-M12’s built-in SDHC slot supports up to 32 GB of local storage on an SD card. Additionally, OnVIF support streamlines standardisation and interoperability with different IP surveillance devices and reduces the user’s costs.

DynaStream Automatic Frame Rate Control Technology

Moxa’s exclusive DynaStream technology optimises bandwidth management by automatically lowering or raising the video frame rate in response to events. By dynamically responding to network events, DynaStream prevents network congestion, helps users control the network usage, and simplifies network system management. The VPort-M12’s Dynastream support gives operators additional flexibility in integrating video services with network systems.
