ZeroEyes, the developer of a pioneering AI-based gun detection video analytics system that has received the full US Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation, announced that Dillon School District Four is implementing its platform. This strategic move aims to enhance the safety of students, faculty, and visitors by mitigating the risk of gun-related incidents.
Dillon School District Four, situated in Dillon County, South Carolina, accommodates approximately 3,800 students and has over 500 employees across its six schools, which encompass two high schools, a middle school, and various elementary schools catering to students from Pre-K to fifth grade. As one of two districts in the area, Dillon School District Four places a high priority on security and emergency preparedness.
Multi-layered security approach
To bolster its security framework, Dillon School District Four has acquired ZeroEyes technology through funds allocated by the South Carolina Department of Education via Proviso 1.78 of the FY 2024-2025 Appropriations Act. The integration of ZeroEyes is set to augment the district's existing security measures, which include metal detectors, shatterproof window films, handheld wands, and two-way communication devices.

The AI-enhanced gun detection and situational awareness software from ZeroEyes operates in tandem with existing digital security cameras. When the system identifies a firearm, images are immediately forwarded to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC), which is the only fully in-house, U.S.-based operations centre staffed around-the-clock by experienced veterans from the U.S. military and law enforcement sectors.
These experts assess threats in real time, providing detailed alerts that include visual descriptions, gun types, and last known locations within 3 to 5 seconds of detection, which are then dispatched promptly to law enforcement and school security teams.
