The introduction of the Panomera® S4 Skyview by Dallmeier represents a significant advancement in high-resolution airspace surveillance technology for airport environments.
This camera system is ingeniously designed to secure areas high above ground, broadening the potential uses for contemporary video security systems.
Optimised airspace surveillance
The Panomera® S4 Skyview leverages patented multifocal sensor technology to deliver seamless, detail-rich coverage across expansive areas. Its unique upward-facing wide vertical capture angle makes it ideal for efficient monitoring of airport airspaces.
This sophistication allows for precise tracking of aircraft in approach or holding patterns, as well as early detection of large bird flocks or unauthorised flying objects. The system records all relevant image areas continuously, enabling comprehensive event tracking and in-depth forensic analysis even after the fact.
Practical design and integration
The Panomera® S4 Skyview supports a real-time resolution of 40 MP and dynamic range of 130 dB UWDR
This camera’s performance hinges on its internal lens configuration, which enables horizontal installation for skyward monitoring. This design provides significant operational advantages, such as improved protection against adverse weather conditions with the Panomera® Sunshield and compatibility with the Dallmeier Air Blast System for maintaining clear visibility.
Built to handle the environmental extremes encountered in outdoor installations, the Panomera® S4 Skyview supports a real-time resolution of 40 MP and dynamic range of 130 dB UWDR. It also employs advanced video compression with H.265 at up to 30 fps and supports EdgeStorage, meeting specifications for open system integration, data protection, and GDPR compliance through ONVIF profiles M, S, and T.
Durable and easy to install
The Panomera® S4 Skyview is crafted for enduring outdoor operation with an IP69-rated housing, including built-in heating and a double-shell convection cooling system.
This robust design eliminates the need for moving components typically required by PTZ cameras, thereby reducing maintenance demands. Its seamless integration with the Mountera® mounting system ensures straightforward, adaptable installation.
Comprehensive solutions for airports
The Panomera® S4 Skyview extends its capabilities to airspace monitoring
Part of Dallmeier’s extensive airport solutions portfolio, the Panomera® S4 Skyview extends its capabilities to airspace monitoring, complementing the Panomera® S8 Runway systems, which focus on ground areas. In virtual and remote tower applications, it further enhances security by overseeing areas behind the tower, delivering a holistic Panomera® solution that covers all facets of airport operations.
Founded in 1984 by Dieter Dallmeier in Regensburg, Germany, Dallmeier electronic has emerged as a significant player in the video information technology sector. This mid-sized company develops and manufactures a range of camera, recording, and analysis solutions that enhance security and operational processes across multiple industries in over 60 countries.
Dallmeier continues to lead with innovations like the world’s first digital image storage system with motion analysis and the Panomera® multifocal sensor technology. By offering products defined by high quality, low Total Cost of Ownership, and strong Return on Investment, Dallmeier meets the needs of various customers, often outcompeting systems from low-wage countries. Committed to the highest standards in data protection, cybersecurity, and environmental responsibility, Dallmeier ensures all its ventures maintain these core values from its headquarters in Regensburg.
With the Panomera® S4 Skyview, Dallmeier introduces an innovative camera solution specifically developed for high-resolution airspace surveillance at airports.
The unique sensor alignment enables reliable coverage of areas far above ground level, thus purposefully expanding the application range of modern video security systems.
Optimised for airspace surveillance
The Panomera® S4 Skyview is based on the patented multifocal sensor technology and provides continuous coverage of large areas while maintaining a high level of detail. Thanks to its wide vertical capture angle directed upward, airport airspace can be monitored efficiently. This makes the system ideally suited for the detection and observation of all types of airborne objects. For example, aircraft in approach or holding patterns can be reliably tracked. Larger flocks of birds or unauthorised flying objects can also be detected and assessed at an early stage.
All relevant image areas are continuously recorded in full and remain available for evaluation. This enables seamless event tracking and detailed forensic analysis, even after the event.
Innovative design with practical advantages
The exceptional performance of the Panomera® S4 Skyview is based on the special arrangement of the lenses inside the housing. This design enables the monitoring of the sky area while allowing horizontal installation of the camera.
This form factor offers decisive advantages in practical operation: The lens front is better protected against precipitation such as rain or snow. In combination with the Panomera® Sunshield, direct sunlight is prevented while weather protection is further enhanced. In addition, the camera can be combined with innovative technologies such as the Dallmeier Air Blast System to actively remove dirt from the front surface and ensure permanently clear visibility. This is achieved contact-free and therefore wear-free by means of compressed air.
Open system integration
The combination of multiple sensors enables a real-time resolution of 40 MP as well as an effective dynamic range of 130 dB UWDR. As a result, clear and detailed images are generated even under difficult lighting conditions.
Modern video compression with H.265 at up to 30 fps as well as support for EdgeStorage ensure efficient recording. In addition, the system fulfills all requirements for open system integration and data protection with ONVIF Profile M, S and T as well as GDPR-compliant functions.
Robust system design and easy installation
The Panomera® S4 Skyview is designed for permanent outdoor operation. An IP69 housing with integrated heating and double-shell convection cooling ensures reliable operation even under demanding environmental conditions.
The absence of moving components – such as those required for PTZ cameras – also significantly reduces maintenance effort. Full compatibility with the Mountera® mounting system enables easy and flexible installation.
Comprehensive airport solutions portfolio
The Panomera® S4 Skyview is part of Dallmeier’s comprehensive solutions portfolio for airports. While Panomera® S8 Runway systems provide high-resolution monitoring of ground areas and runways, the Panomera® S4 Skyview enables targeted airspace surveillance. In Virtual and Remote Tower scenarios, the Panomera® S4 Skyview also provides additional security by covering areas behind the tower.
Combined, this creates a seamless Panomera® solution that fully captures both ground and airspace areas, providing a comprehensive overview of all security-relevant activities at the airport. In 1984, Dieter Dallmeier founded what is now Dallmeier electronic – not in the proverbial garage, but in a garden shed in Regensburg, Germany. Today, the company, which can justifiably call itself a hidden champion for video information technology "Made in Germany", has several hundred employees worldwide, more than 250 of them at the company headquarters in the center of Regensburg alone.
Medium-sized companies
Dallmeier's camera, recording, software, and analysis solutions optimise security and processes for B2B end customers in a wide range of industries in over 60 countries. The focus is on users from the casino, smart city, airports, logistics, stadiums, and industrial sectors. But also, banks, critical infrastructure facilities as well as medium-sized companies from all sectors.
With pioneering innovations, Dallmeier has succeeded time and again in placing itself at the forefront of technology: From the world's first digital image storage system with motion analysis in 1992, the patented "multifocal sensor technology" Panomera® with its "Mountera®" mounting system, to the latest Domera® camera family, which allows up to 300 camera variants with only 18 components. These and many other innovations provide real, tangible customer benefits. And with a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and a high Return on Investment (ROI) they can easily compete with systems produced and supplied from low-wage countries.
Maximum vertical integration
With "Made in Germany", they also guarantee the customers the highest standards in data protection, cybersecurity, and ethical responsibility.
With high quality and short supply chains, they also ensure – almost incidentally – sustainability and environmental protection. From their prestigious headquarters in the centre of Regensburg, Dallmeier not only carries out its own research and development but also the complete manufacturing process – from component to product to solution.
