Genetec Inc. has unveiled new investigative capabilities within its Genetec Security Center SaaS, aiming to expedite incident resolution and streamline organisational return to regular operations. As incidents increasingly span multiple locations, systems, and camera vendors, these enhancements help tackle challenges posed by such complex scenarios.
Security incidents often involve a broad range of facilities and geographical areas, requiring footage and data from extensive camera networks from various manufacturers. Investigators usually start these tasks with limited information, further complicated by the closed nature of systems designed for single-vendor environments. These factors hinder the swift advancement of investigations across different sites and systems.
Enhancing investigation efficiency with intelligent search
Building on last year's introduction of intelligent search features, Genetec continues to enhance investigation experiences to enable more efficient operation amid complex investigation settings. By maintaining continuity of evidence, decisions, and context from the initial incident report to the conclusion of a case, investigations proceed without redundant searches or operations.

Anne Cécile Millot Tournier, Product Group Director of Intelligent Automation at Genetec Inc., emphasised the flexibility provided by these tools, stating, “When an incident occurs, security teams must act fast and follow the investigation wherever it leads, even with limited initial details. Unlike tools built for closed, single-vendor systems, the new investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS are built for enterprise environments, enabling teams to work across thousands of cameras, multiple sites, and mixed ecosystems without switching systems or launching separate searches as new leads emerge.”
Streamlined search processes
Security Center SaaS aligns investigations with actual operational workflows. An investigation often begins with scant details, such as a vague time frame or a basic description like a brand logo on a suspect’s clothing. Enhanced natural language search powered by AI converts these descriptions into feasible searches across diverse video feeds, fine-tuning results through contextual indicators like location and concurrent activity.
Investigators can refine their search results using a timeline preview to quickly identify crucial footage, confirming significant moments and narrowing down timelines without sifting through entire recordings. This framework allows them to trace people and objects through various scenes, matching movement patterns and dissecting event sequences over time.
Consolidating evidence
The evolving capabilities in Security Center SaaS incorporate AI-driven processes
The evolving capabilities in Security Center SaaS incorporate AI-driven processes, such as automated summaries of video clips, aiding investigators in documenting captured events succinctly and sharing comprehensive outcomes with relevant parties. This approach significantly reduces the time taken to complete investigations and facilitates a prompt return to normal operations.
Comprehensive tools, including natural language search, similarity and trajectory analysis, and case management, are integrated into a seamless investigative platform. These simplify the transition from live monitoring to an active investigation, ensuring efficient evidence handling and secure distribution of findings.
Starting February 2026, these capabilities will roll out progressively to Security Center SaaS users, designed to cut investigation times significantly, enhancing transparency and control over investigative processes, while ensuring swift operational recovery.
Genetec Inc., the global pioneer in enterprise physical security software, announces new investigation capabilities in Genetec Security Center SaaS that help organisations resolve incidents faster and return to daily operations more quickly, even when investigations span multiple sites, systems, and camera vendors.
Security incidents often span across facilities, campuses, and geographies. They rely on footage and data from dozens or even thousands of cameras and devices from different vendors. Meanwhile, investigators typically begin with only limited or incomplete information. Closed systems built for single-vendor environments, combined with the disconnected nature of traditional investigation tools, make it difficult for teams to move quickly as investigations expand across sites, systems, and camera brands.
Intelligent search capabilities
Building on the intelligent search capabilities introduced last year, Genetec is delivering an investigation experience that enables teams to work more efficiently in complex environments. By keeping evidence, decisions, and contextual information connected from the first incident report through to case closure, investigators avoid restarting searches or duplicating work as investigations evolve.
“When an incident occurs, security teams must act fast and follow the investigation wherever it leads, even with limited initial details,” said Anne Cécile Millot Tournier, Product Group Director, Intelligent Automation, Genetec Inc. “Unlike tools built for closed, single vendor systems, the new investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS are built for enterprise environments, enabling teams to work across thousands of cameras, multiple sites, and mixed ecosystems without switching systems or launching separate searches as new leads emerge.”
Brief incident report
Investigations in Security Center SaaS are designed around how operators and investigators actually work. An investigation may begin with a brief incident report and limited details, such as an approximate time or the partial description of a perpetrator’s clothing, like a brand logo.
Using enhanced natural language search powered by AI, investigators can turn everyday descriptions into actionable searches across video feeds from multiple sites and camera brands, then narrow results using contextual cues such as location, nearby activity, and what happened before and after an event.
Narrow time ranges
As relevant footage is identified, investigators can validate and refine findings using a timeline preview. This allows them to quickly scan video, confirm key moments, and narrow time ranges without loading or reviewing full recordings. From there, investigators can follow people, vehicles, and objects across scenes, visualise movement using trajectory analysis, and understand how events unfolded over time, without reviewing hours of video.
As an investigation progresses, evidence can be consolidated into a case, allowing investigators to build a complete picture of the incident. Video clips, snapshots, and related material can be automatically organised chronologically, enriched with contextual information and tags, and presented as a coherent storyboard that shows how events connect.
As part of the evolving investigation experience in Security Center SaaS, AI-assisted capabilities, including automated summaries of video clips, help investigators quickly document what was captured, making it easier to finalise findings, share outcomes with stakeholders, and close cases efficiently, assisted capabilities, including automated summaries of video clips, help investigators quickly document what was captured making it easier to finalise findings, share outcomes with stakeholders, and close cases efficiently.
Reducing investigation time
The new investigation capabilities bring together tools such as natural language search, similarity detection, entry and exit detection, contextual analysis, visual trajectory search, and case and evidence management into a unified investigative experience.
Security professionals can move seamlessly from live monitoring into an active investigation, collect and review evidence, and securely share reliable findings with internal and external stakeholders, all from a single interface.
Beginning in February 2026, the new investigation capabilities will be introduced to Security Center SaaS users, with additional functionality rolling out on an ongoing basis. These will help organisations reduce investigation time from hours to minutes and return to daily operations more quickly once incidents are resolved, all while maintaining transparency and operator control over how conclusions are reached.
