UTC Fire & Security UK Ltd. is announcing two enhancements to its TruVision® line: the addition of new analytics features designed to increase ease of deployment, as well as expansion of its range of intelligence outdoor/indoor IP cameras. UTC Fire & Security UK Ltd. is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

New intelligence capabilities include face, audio, cross line, intrusion, defocus and scene change detection features. “The on-board capabilities of these powerful new devices bring new levels of performance to CCTV system installers and designers,” said Kevin Swann, country manager, UTC Fire & Security UK. “They make sophisticated video analytics even more practical to deploy and easy to use, whilst ensuring quality images with efficient bandwidth and storage use.”

Face detection feature

The face detection feature can be used for alarm triggering and for event recording, whilst the audio detection can alarm when noise levels exceed or fall below pre-defined values while filtering out background noise interference. With the intrusion detection function, users can set an area within the surveillance scene to protect and when the area is entered, a set of alarm actions can be triggered.

The defocus detection function triggers an alarm if the image becomes blurred for any reason and a hallway view function rotates the image, allowing users to capture and view key information down a long corridor. The cameras can also decrease image quality in areas defined as non- regions of interest to maximise bandwidth and storage. This function can also deliver enhanced image quality in the target region of interest under the same bit rate stream conditions.

Advanced Motion Detection

The scene change detection function can be used to detect the change of the surveillance environment as a result of external factors, such as the unauthorised rotation of a camera. The cross line function detects whenever an object passes across a pre-defined virtual plane and a series of linkage methods will be triggered if any object is detected. The user can also select an Advanced Motion Detection (or Expert Motion Detection) mode and configure the sensitivity and proportion for different detection areas.

The expanded TruVision megapixel HD camera range includes 10 new models, including the 1.3MPX and 3MPX, box, dome and bullet models. The new TruVision models also offer key features including: triple stream, which is composed of two independent main streams and a sub-stream; Electronic Image Stabilisation, which negates the effect of vibration; and Defog, which is designed to improve the clarity of images captured in adverse conditions including rain, smoke and fog.

The new range supports Edge storage (64GB) via on-board SD (SecureDigital) slots and features improved Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology (120dB WDR). The cameras also deliver a low bit rate and stream latency and can operate up to 50fps on the 1.3MPX models (with WDR off).
