Idesco's innovative, user-friendly and versatile EPC product family for vehicle identification, logistics, industrial settings and access control just became a little larger. Welcome to the new Idesco EPC IA, a UHF product supporting an additional antenna and anti-collision to enable simultaneous detection and querying of multiple tags.

With an additional antenna, the Idesco EPC IA has an enlarged reading area, making it a much more powerful and versatile reader. For example, the Idesco EPC IA can effectively treat its antennas as two distinct readers, giving you the freedom to deploy it for specialised tasks. With its two antennas deployed in interval or oblique orientations, the Idesco EPC IA reader can identify a moving tag’s direction. Or with a more opposed antenna orientation, an Idesco EPC IA reader can administer both exit and entry traffic in a parking garage, eliminating the costs of an additional reader and road loops for an additional exit route. Or, for tamper proof security, you can deploy Idesco EPC IA reader’s extra antenna outside your building with the remainder of the unit’s electronics safely housed inside.

Anti-collision, another novel feature of the Idesco EPC IA, is the consequence of its profoundly enhanced read buffer, boasting a storage capacity of up to 200 tag events (or 100 for each of two antennas). This buffer stores read events before serial processing, protecting against data loss if confronted with a temporarily dense sequence of tag read events. One application that clearly benefits immeasurably from this enhancement is zone monitoring in industrial, warehouse or even some limited retail store settings that are limited to tracking objects or products with passive tags.

Idesco’s EPC IA reader is conveniently configurable to either RS232 or Wiegand connections and Ethernet connection is also available on request. Additionally, the reader's wide operational temperature range and enviable protection class assure you can confidently deploy it in either indoor or outdoor settings. Innovatively, the Idesco EPC IA may also seamlessly integrate into systems deploying Idesco's Access 7C Mifare reader. (This is possible because the RS232 output format of both readers is identical and they both can successfully query a MIFARE UID hosted on an Idesco EPC Mifare Card.)

Despite such wide and powerful capabilities the Idesco EPC IA reader remains as remarkably easy to deploy as its predecessors, assuring significant installation cost savings over similar products. Conveniently, the reader initiates tag polling/reading automatically upon power-up without requiring any initiating commands. Furthermore, since all Idesco EPC antennas are circularly polarised, potential errors due to a tag’s orientation to the Idesco EPC IA are minimised. Like its predecessors, Idesco’s new EPC IA supports a wide variety of EPC tags for numerous identification applications, including, of course, Idesco’s own robust and proven products.

The Idesco EPC IA: innovative, versatile, powerful and user-friendly – yet another example of Idesco solving tomorrow’s problems today.
