Dedicated Micros has delivered a range of advanced CCTV systems - including is latest Digital Sprite 2 and Dennard 2060 outdoor dome camera - to installer Direct CCTV to provide an advanced security and entertainment solution for the Airwaves Ducati team competing in this year's British SuperBike (BSB) Championship.  The type of CCTV installed is a first for the high profile series which started at Brands Hatch last weekend and is being screened live on ITV1.

Said Pauline Norstrom, Worldwide Head of Marketing at Dedicated Micros: "When the request came in from Direct CCTV to be associated with this ambitious concept we were more than happy to provide practical support.  From our connection with events such as the Le Mans Endurance Series we appreciate that the motorsport environment is particularly demanding for security, with valuable equipment requiring protection around the clock.

The systems supplied by Dedicated Micros were placed at the very heart of the Direct CCTV solution for the Airwaves Ducati team.  The robust Dennard 2060 outdoor dome was positioned to keep an eye on the pit area with images from this and other cameras streamed back via Mel Secure's wireless connection to a rack-mounted Digital Sprite 2.  CCTV images collected were then available to view through Dedicated Micros NetVu ObserVer software, not only to ensure the security of the team's valuable equipment but also for entertainment purposes - in this case via a large plasma screen positioned in the hospitality area.  Here Dedicated Micros KBS3A remote digital keyboard was fitted so that the new Digital Sprite 2 could be controlled remotely with no loss in functionality.

Commented Chris Percy, Managing Director, Direct CCTV: "As an official technical partner of the Airwaves Ducati team - the reigning BSB Champions - we will be offering our expertise to the team throughout this year's Championship.  When looking at the sort of CCTV solution required we wanted to install equipment which readily combined performance with ease of use and the new Digital Sprite 2 certainly fits the bill.

"We were delighted with the assistance provided by Dedicated Micros in helping us to make sure that everything was in place for the first race.  The feedback from the team and particularly the guests in hospitality, who were able to watch events in the pits at Brands Hatch, was extremely positive.  It was a good weekend all round with the team's riders, Gregorio Lavilla and Leon Haslam, now sitting first and fourth in the Championship.
