As part of its expansion in the South Asian market, UK-based integrated security manufacturer TDSi is working with Vietnamese security integration partner GTCSI (Giang Viet System Integrated Corp)to offer the latest security and access control systems to this growing market. The two companies have worked together on a number of key projects throughout Vietnam and Cambodia.

Having worked in the Chinese security market for a number of years, Vietnam was an obvious growth area in the region and TDSi found an ideal local expert partner in GTCSI. John Davies, Managing Director of TDSi, elaborated, “China is one of our key export markets and has proven to be buoyant and highly successful. Spurred on by this impressive growth we were keen to expand further into the South East Asian market. Vietnam was one of a number of very attractive prospect markets that we had earmarked for attention.” John adds, “As with all export markets we were keen to collaborate with expert local security partners, partially to offer end users superb technical knowledge and installation, but also to assist us with well-planned and targeted market penetration. GTC excels on both these accounts and has worked with us to rapidly grow TDSi’s businesses in Vietnam and Cambodia.”

TDSi’s latest integrated software and physical access control products have proven to be a popular addition to the Vietnamese security market portfolio, as Mr Doan Huu Tan, Director of GTC explained, “The local market is growing rapidly, particularly in the commercial and manufacturing sectors and there is a strong demand for security systems that seamlessly work together to provide the full view to operators. We were keen to work with TDSi as its systems perfectly address this need, offering high levels of quality and reliability but also keen pricing and availability, as well as technical support. TDSi’s systems also provide a very wide scope for integration with other systems, old and new (such as digital and analogue CCTV systems for example) and this offers a high degree of flexibility which is very popular for our customers and gives GTC an advantage in the installation and specification market. We are able to win lucrative contracts by combining excellent products with our own breadth and depth of expertise.”

Vinasoy production facility

An interesting GTC installation of TDSi systems has taken place at the Vinasoy production facility on the Tien Son Industrial Park inBac Ninh Province, north east of Hanoi. The company is a leader in the soy-based nutritional products production market and construction of the new soymilk production facility (the largest and most advanced of its kind in Southeast Asia) commenced in August 2012, with operations beginning in May 2013-producing 90 million litres per year. The facility includes an interactive area for guests, which allows them to observe the factory’s operations and to understand the processes from raw materials to finished products. With the need to maintain a safe and secure food production line and with a mixture of onsite staff, delivery teams and members of the public visiting the facility, Vinasoy was keen to introduce the latest integrated security and access control measures, so turned to GTC to specify and install the ideal solution.

GTCSI advised that TDSi’s fingerprint reader would be an ideal solution, ensuring that only authorised personnel are able to access the restricted production and administrative areas of the facility and preventing the theft or misuse of access cards of PIN codes. TDSi’s fingerprint reader also makes it simple and rapid for authorised people to enter sensitive areas and can be easily and quickly enabled for new people, or cancelled when no longer required. The unit is also robust and impervious to the conditions that can be associated around a food preparation facility.

End users in Cambodia

With its base of operations in Vietnam, GTC also has outreach across the border into Cambodia and has introduced TDSi’s integrated security products to the market there as well. An example of this is a project to secure a factory in the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone in Cambodia.

Construction of the 1.2 hectare factory, along with a training centre began in March 2013 and was in response to increased worldwide sales. With valuable assets to protect, the facility utilises many security systems including TDSi’s MICROgarde access controllers. These controllers provide robust and reliable networkable access control for specific doors, to ensure that differently designated areas are kept separate and that movement around the facility can be monitored and recorded.

Reflecting on these projects, John Davies added, “We have already made impressive inroads into these markets, working closely with GTC. It has proven to be a highly beneficial mutual relationship and we look forward to winning and completing more projects in the region going forward.”
