Genetec Inc. has successfully unified the complex physical security systems at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park using its Genetec™ Security Center platform. This strategic implementation supports SoFi Stadium, which hosts the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, and transforms it into a pioneer venue for global sports and entertainment.
Located at Hollywood Park, SoFi Stadium is an architectural marvel spread over 3.1 million square feet, with the entire development spanning 300 acres. To accommodate high-profile events, the venue has integrated video surveillance, access control, and automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) into a single interface. This integration is managed across three security control rooms, utilising more than 3,000 cameras and 700 readers to streamline operations and enhance situational awareness.
Enhanced security operations
According to Nick Bermensolo, Vice President of Security and Safety, the use of Genetec Security Center has significantly improved response times by providing comprehensive information on a unified platform. "Genetec Security Center has improved our response time efficiency by giving us all the information we need in one platform. We’re able to understand what's happening and make decisions quickly," he said.
Daily security operations are now more efficient, thanks to this robust backend support
Since the integration of Security Center, SoFi Stadium’s IT infrastructure has become more reliable and scalable, operating on an isolated network that connects to central servers. During major events, the IT team monitors system performance from the Network Operations Center to ensure optimal functioning. Daily security operations are now more efficient, thanks to this robust backend support.
Paul Maldonado, Vice President of IT Infrastructure and Operations, praised the comprehensive understanding Genetec demonstrated of both physical and IT systems. "The Genetec team doesn’t just understand physical security systems, but IT systems too. With their help, we’ve been able to deploy a reliable and high-performing security platform at scale," Maldonado stated.
Future technology integration
Looking to the future, SoFi Stadium's teams aim to extract additional value from the Security Center by integrating AI-based tools and automation features.
This approach ensures that the scalable platform will continue to meet changing cybersecurity and network demands. "Genetec has really helped us establish a technology standard. Security Center is reliable and cybersecure, integrates well with our network, and reduces overhead for both IT and security. That’s the type of technology we want to continue implementing across our business,” Maldonado added.
