Oncam has unveiled the next phase of its strategic development with the announcement of a new end-to-end, direct-to-cloud video platform. The initiative aims to streamline deployment processes, empower system integrators, and transform enterprise surveillance.
This development marks a significant step for Oncam as it evolves its expertise in intelligent imaging into a comprehensive, cloud-centric ecosystem.
Innovative cloud-based platform
The platform integrates AI-enabled cameras, IoT devices, and cloud-integrated video management software
Engineered in collaboration between Oncam’s UK and US teams, the platform integrates AI-enabled cameras, IoT devices, and cloud-integrated video management software to offer enhanced performance with reduced complexity.
The system is designed to facilitate cloud adoption while preserving the openness and interoperability that have defined Oncam’s ethos. Chief Operating Officer, Scott Brothers, noted, “This marks an exciting new chapter for Oncam. We’re combining two decades of imaging innovation with a modern approach to AI, cloud, and connectivity, always with our channel partners in mind.”
Introducing Oncam Core
Central to this innovation is Oncam Core, a comprehensive web and mobile platform that provides real-time oversight and actionable insights across the video surveillance network.
Built on open standards and fully compliant with ONVIF regulations, it integrates smoothly with third-party cameras, with Oncam’s proprietary edge-optimised devices positioned as optimal for leveraging the platform’s cloud-native architecture.
Advanced camera technology
The next-generation camera line includes bullet, dome, turret, and panoramic models, engineered for easy direct-to-cloud deployment.
Compliant with both NDAA and TAA standards, the line features dual SD slots for edge storage, various power options including PoE and USB-C, and integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On-device AI acceleration supports analytics at the edge.
Collaborative technology partnerships
To support this evolution, Oncam is collaborating with major technology partners
To support this evolution, Oncam is collaborating with major technology partners. Qualcomm's Dragonwing processors power on-device AI, enabling sophisticated analytics like behaviour detection and facial recognition while minimising bandwidth requirements.
“By combining Qualcomm Dragonwing processors with Oncam’s imaging expertise, we’re unlocking a new generation of smart cameras,” stated Sebastiano Di Filippo, Senior Director, Business Development at Qualcomm Europe, Inc.
Enhanced storage solutions
Sandisk provides robust edge storage solutions aimed at replacing traditional NVR systems. Russell Ruben, Director of Technical Segment Marketing at Sandisk, commented on their collaboration, emphasizing the transformative impact of high-endurance edge storage on intelligent video systems.
Cloud infrastructure with AWS
The platform’s cloud services are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), guaranteeing global reliability and scalability.
Jon Marsh, Oncam’s Chief Technology Officer, explained, “We’re designing for resilience at every layer, from intelligent devices at the edge to a secure, scalable cloud backbone, to offer integrators and enterprises faster deployment and a clear path towards full cloud adoption.”
Support and continuation for existing partners
While embarking on its direct-to-cloud strategy, Oncam remains committed to its existing partners and alliances, ensuring that current product lines and support programmes continue as planned as the company’s roadmap evolves.
