The Adrian Public Schools Board of Education has approved the renewal of its partnership with ZeroEyes, an AI-driven platform designed for gun detection and situational awareness.
This renewal, confirmed at the board's meeting on 13 April, continues the integration of advanced artificial intelligence technology with the district's existing security camera systems to bolster school safety. The initiative, implemented since 2023, aims to mitigate potential firearm threats in educational settings.
Advanced AI gun detection system
ZeroEyes' AI detection technology integrates seamlessly with digital security cameras. Upon identifying a firearm, images are swiftly relayed to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC), recognized as the sole U.S.-based, fully in-house operation center staffed continuously by trained U.S. military and law enforcement veterans.
These experts evaluate the threat and, if confirmed, dispatch critical alerts and data, including a visual description, gun type, and location, to law enforcement and district officials within 3 to 5 seconds of detection.

These enhancements include an overhaul of security camera systems, deployment of weapon detection K-9 units at school facilities, and the installation of bullet and shatter-resistant glass in strategic locations within school buildings.
Superintendent Nate Parker reiterated the district's commitment to strategic safety planning, stating, “The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We continue to take intentional, layered steps to strengthen our security systems and ensure our schools are prepared and protected. The renewal of ZeroEyes reflects that ongoing commitment.”

Adrian Police Department Officer Joshua Perry, serving as a School Resource Officer and a participant in district safety planning, emphasised the central role of collaboration in these initiatives. “These improvements demonstrate a strong partnership between schools and law enforcement,” Perry noted. “The combination of training, communication, and technology significantly strengthens our ability to keep students and staff safe.”
