Gunnebo Safe Storage has powered the Nordic region's first entirely automated safe deposit box service, introduced by precious metals expert Jalonom Oy in Espoo, Finland.
This service, situated in the Prisma shopping centre in Lahti, permits users to access their safe deposit boxes independently, eliminating the need for appointments or a physical staff presence. By merging convenience with robust security, this innovation meets the increasing demand as traditional bank safe deposit services become scarcer.
Automated safe deposit system
At the heart of this service lies the Safe Store Auto, an automated safe deposit system from Gunnebo Safe Storage. This technology integrates robotics with a certified high-security vault, ensuring the safeguarding of assets against theft, fire, and loss.
Customers undergo a secure authentication process, after which a robotic system retrieves their individual boxes in a controlled setting, enhancing privacy and efficiency. "Customers are finding it harder to access physical safe deposit box services, while the need to securely store valuables and important documents continues to grow," stated Kimmo Korkiakoski, CEO of Jalonom Oy. "We wanted to introduce a solution to remove the limitations of traditional services including no appointments, no restricted office hours, all while maintaining the highest possible level of security."
Responding to physical bank decline
The aesthetically designed system provides a seamless user experience, ensuring stringent security
Jalonom Oy, a family-operated enterprise with 15 years in the precious metals domain, has observed growing interest from individuals and businesses seeking reliable storage for valuables, crucial documents, and investment assets. The reduction of physical bank branches and the limited availability of traditional safe deposit boxes have further expedited the need for alternative solutions.
This facility offers customers the ability to manage their storage conveniently, meeting the modern demand for flexible, self-service solutions. The aesthetically designed system provides a seamless user experience, ensuring stringent security at each access stage.
Meeting future storage needs
The advent of this service also mirrors a heightened consciousness regarding asset protection, alongside a growing interest in precious metals as investments, which has led to sustained demand for reliable and accessible storage options. Solutions like Safe Store Auto are emerging as a scalable and future-ready response to these evolving requirements.
"Automated safe deposit solutions are transforming how customers access and manage secure storage," explained Joakim Tillman, International Key Account Manager at Gunnebo Safe Storage. "This installation highlights the growing global adoption of automated vault systems, and through our partnership with Jalonom, we are bringing proven technology to a new audience in the Nordic region. With Safe Store Auto, we combine certified vault protection with intelligent automation to deliver a secure, convenient, and future-ready service model that enhances both security and the overall customer experience."
