Customers can use either a card, the app on their smartphone or both to open a door with the Symmetry Blue reader AMAG Technology, a security manufacturer specialising in access control, video management, identity management, intrusion detection and visitor management, will be demonstrating its Symmetry Blue reader range at ISC West 2017 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas between April 5th-7th. The Symmetry Blue reader range combines Bluetooth Low Energy with card reading capabilities to deliver a mobile access control solution to open doors. Used with Android or iOS smart phones alongside or in place of traditional cards, users download the Symmetry Blue app and enrol directly into the Symmetry access control system. Mobile reader solution The cost-effective mobile solution does not require a licence, separate portal or third party subscription. Users simply open a door by holding their mobile device near the reader, which connects to a door like a conventional card reader. Customers can use either a card, the app on their smartphone or both to open a door. “We are proud to be the first access control company to deliver a mobile reader solution to the market,” said AMAG Technology Product Manager, Andy Goodwin. “With everyone carrying a cell phone, moving to this technology is inevitable and our cost-effective Symmetry Blue reader range and app make this transition easy and affordable.” Using a cell phone as a credential is going to be extremely helpful for users in environments where people tend to lose or forget their cards, where there are occasional attendees at a particular site, for visitors or contractors where you do not want to issue an identity badge, or as a second credential to be used alongside an access card. Hybrid access control Many organisations may adopt a hybrid approach, keeping both the card and the smart phone using the Symmetry Access Control software's multiple credentials per cardholder capability. The Bluetooth reader capability could be added to lower security doors or just the minimum number of doors required that allow access to the workplace. Another advantage of using a mobile app is no physical hand-off of a credential is required. Users just download the app and it is instantly ready for use. This saves time and money and provides a convenient method to implement security.

AMAG Technology has released Symmetry™ V8.1 Access Control software. Symmetry V8.1 is available in all product editions: Symmetry Business, Professional, Enterprise, Homeland and Global. Symmetry products give customers a comprehensive end-to-end software platform so users can manage all their security needs while reducing risk and meeting industry compliance. Full integration with VMS “The Symmetry V8.1 upgrade delivers many access control, intrusion and video enhancements to our software,” said AMAG Technology’s Access Control Product Manager, Andy Goodwin. “Key improvements provide increased functionality, additional third party integrations and compatibility with our new web-based Symmetry GUEST Visitor Management System.” The software fully integrates with the latest version of the Symmetry CompleteView Video Management System. Symmetry CompleteView VMS offers dynamic tools, thumbnail search capability, and a Design Wizard to easily design a video security project. The recently introduced Identity Verification capability has been expanded to be fully operational with any camera or video management system connected to Symmetry. A new feature allows viewing of one large single video image as an alternative to three smaller live images. Symmetry V8.1 integrates with AMAG’s new Symmetry GUEST Visitor Management System. The new cloud based system provides pre-enrolment, advanced self-service features for visitors and an improved customer experience, while improving lobby traffic flow, increasing security and reducing costs. Symmetry V8.1 now integrates with ASSA ABLOY’s Sargent and Corbin Russwin IP-Enabled Locks, which allows users to expand access control to include doors not normally included in a traditional security system. Users can expand their access control system in this way by simply adding a software license. No Symmetry hardware or extra wiring is needed. Viewing activities in real-time Advanced activity filters in Symmetry V8.1 allow users to further drill down to see specific activity of interest in real-time. The filters provide precision, which helps pinpoint movement in investigations. Alarms generated during construction and maintenance periods can distract and inconvenience control centre employees. In a new Maintenance Mode feature, alarms and events from specified door controllers can be diverted to a separate alarm filter within Symmetry during maintenance periods. The Symmetry software prevents the removal of hardware devices if still logically integrated with other items of equipment. A list of connected devices or interfaces now appears at the point of requested hardware deletion making the process more straightforward for the technician. Integration with burglary and intrusion panel Symmetry V8.1 now supports integration with the latest DMP XR550 burglary and intrusion panel. The integration allows users to gain access and disarm an area using a single access card. Alarms from the DMP XR550 panel will appear in Symmetry, providing one user interface to manage alarms. Genetec Security Center v5.3 is supported by Symmetry V8.1 in a two-way integration through a separate Symmetry plug-in. Symmetry V8.1 now supports Microsoft Windows 10 Professional and Enterprise operating systems, so users already using 10 or those who are looking to upgrade to 10 will be compatible.
AMAG Technology, a worldwide provider of complete end-to-end security management solutions for access control and video management, announces the release of Symmetry™ v8.0.2 access control software. Symmetry v8.0.2 software offers end users a complete unified, end-to-end security solution to manage all security and complementary technologies in one place via an intuitive user interface. “We are continuing with our commitment to our integrators and end users to improve our access control feature set and video capabilities with each software upgrade,” said AMAG Technology, Product Manager, Andy Goodwin. “Having the Symmetry v8.0.2 access control software as a FICAM-complaint, GSA approved solution provides AMAG the opportunity to work with federal agencies and help them meet current PACS standards.” Symmetry for US Government customers: Smart card standards continue to tighten to counter growing physical and cyber threats and the US government has made it mandatory that all access control products meet Federal Identity Credential and Access Management (FICAM) standards. Symmetry v8.0.2 allows the matching of a full 128 bit number stored on specific card types. This is particularly important for US Government customers and other customers moving to PIV-I and CIV credentials. The number comes in two forms: UUID and 128 bit FASC-N and is essential for GSA FICAM approval. Integration with Oncam Grandeye Evolution: The Symmetry v8.0.2 video management module now supports an integration with OnCam Grandeye’s Evolution 360 degree camera range. The Evolution camera continuously records an entire 360 degree area to provide total situational awareness, while allowing users to zoom into an area of interest. OnCam Grandeye’s OnVu 360 Mobile app is also available for iOS and Android mobile devices to monitor the Evolution 360-degree cameras in full HD and in the palm of your hand. Simplified installation and other features: Symmetry v8.0.2 added features that will simplify the installation process and enhance the reliability of Symmetry Global, the software of choice for organisations spread over a number of geographically dispersed sites that run autonomously, yet benefit from centralised administration. Symmetry Global can now be used by mobile entities that may go out of range for a period of time and operate autonomously, and then return later for synchronisation. Symmetry v8.0.2 supports the newly released Symmetry HD EN-7530HD Indoor Ultra Compact Dome IP camera and Symmetry EN-7567HD Indoor/ Outdoor IR Bullet IP camera. The complete Symmetry range of advanced network cameras provides full HD technology, H.264 video compression, and built-in advanced video analytics to meet any video surveillance need. When installed with the Symmetry SR controller range, Symmetry v8.0.2 supports the new Symmetry F2F reader family. The F2F card reader is compatible with new Symmetry systems and legacy access control systems supporting supervised F2F protocol. It supports a range of both proximity and smartcard technologies. Symmetry v8.0.2 added a merged access code feature to improve the way access permissions download to door controllers. Users can now add advanced rights to the standard rights, for example in situations where an employee needs access to a different part of a building on a temporary basis. Security administrators can now allocate card holders to card readers with time codes that overlapped each other, simplifying the installation process.
