Proximus Global and Aakash Educational Services Limited have announced the implementation of a new silent verification system across India, powered by the Konera API Platform. This collaboration aims to streamline student onboarding by verifying users through the mobile network, enhancing the security and efficiency of the process on a national scale.
The integration of silent verification modernises the authentication strategy by performing a network check in the background, thereby minimising friction and boosting reliability. The system ensures secure user verification, providing a seamless experience for students regardless of their device, service provider, or location in India.
Silent Verification: A new approach
Replacing the traditional SMS-based One Time Passcodes (OTP), silent verification circumvents typical challenges such as delivery delays and coverage issues, which frequently affect OTPs and lead to higher dropout rates. By directly leveraging mobile networks for authentication, this method facilitates prompt and assured student registration.
This innovation addresses the prevalent problem where approximately 2-3% of OTPs fail to deliver, especially in regions with poor connectivity, putting students in remote areas at a disadvantage. Silent verification operates in the network's 'backend', eliminating the need for user-input or SMS intervention.
Enhancing educational access
Konera API Platform provides a unified interface for enterprises to access secure, operator-driven capabilities India's educational sector relies heavily on digital channels, which now account for 62% of student enrolments. Aakash Educational Services Limited is leveraging this digital shift to bridge the urban-rural divide in education by promoting online learning and offering scholarships. This initiative supports students across various regions by making quality education more accessible.

Launched in October 2025, Konera serves as Proximus Global’s Network API Platform, providing a unified interface for enterprises to access secure, operator-driven capabilities. By utilising verification signals sourced directly from mobile networks, Konera helps strengthen onboarding processes and reduces fraud risk, facilitating trusted digital interactions across various markets.
