Thanks to the agreement with Coursera, the digital platform for the use of MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses) courses, Leonardo strengthens its training initiatives for its people, in line with its corporate strategy that sees employees and their personal and professional growth as a key element for the Company’s development and sustainability.
Multiple training courses
Through Coursera’s wide educational offerings – which includes more than 4,000 courses in 11 thematic areas and around 1,200 specialisation programmes – Leonardo will allow more than 40,000 employees, in Italy and worldwide, to access multiple training courses, in the name of life-long learning attitude, that is a continuous learning process adaptable to the needs of individuals, and to allow the acquisition of new skills, not only professional but also personal.
Leonardo’s employees will, therefore, have unlimited access to the extensive Coursera catalogue, the courses are 50% linked to Leonardo’s Competence Management System and provided by the most prestigious Universities – around 190 – and companies in the hi-tech industry.

Reducing skills gaps
Through this tool Leonardo enhances significantly the use of Mobile Learning, a form of learning which involves the use of mobile supports, to allow continuous access to learning processes. This new formula, involves, to date, about 67% of companies in the United States and that, since 2000, has seen a 900% increase in use.
Thanks to Mobile Learning, it is possible to respond to the new challenges in the workplace, allowing all the employees to learn what they want, when they want, significantly reducing skills gaps and promoting the increase of employability. The agreement between Leonardo and Coursera has a two-fold objective: to guarantee an adequate response to the growing need for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills, and to contribute spontaneously to personal and professional development, even outside the current field of activity of each employee.
