By eliminating need for multiple credentials solutions built on the Seos platform, it speeds everyday transactions such as access to government services and personal residences

The platform will drive the development of secure & privacy protecting mobile applications

ASSA ABLOY announced that it will license its Seos® platform for mobile credentials to the broad identity and access management community as well as application developers and consumers.  This powerful new platform will drive the development of a wide range of interoperable, secure and privacy protecting mobile applications, enabling secure access to physical and virtual resources for enterprises, governments and consumers around the world – and it accommodates any smart device.

Addressing the need for mobile access applications that are secure and protect privacy, Seos is already simplifying life for users across universities, enterprises, hotels and residential properties.  By eliminating the need for multiple credentials, such as an access card or physical key, solutions built on the Seos platform are speeding everyday transactions such as hotel check-in, access to government services and access to personal residences.

“People around the globe rarely leave home without their mobile devices.  To give them the ability to access everything from their home to their place of business, and everything in between, using one device, both securely and privately, is a convenience that Seos delivers on a grand scale,” said Denis Hébert, executive vice president of ASSA ABLOY and head of HID Global, an ASSA ABLOY business.

Seos, which can communicate over multiple interfaces, including NFC and Bluetooth, incorporates design features that allow any smart device, from phones to tablets to wearables, such as watches, to become a trusted credential.  Applications built on the Seos platform do not reveal any unique identifiers to unauthorised readers, thereby protecting privacy.

“We designed and built the Seos platform with security top-of-mind,” added Hébert, “so that users can be confident in their use of the technology and developers will be able to fully take advantage of these features.”

Built on a common, interoperable standard, Seos allows smart devices from different manufacturers to speak the same language.  Seos employs tools that create secure transactions and trust between devices.  “It’s a revolutionary solution in that it does not compromise privacy in the name of security or convenience,” said Hébert.

Demonstration at Mobile World Congress

ASSA ABLOY will be demonstrating Seos at Samsung in Hall 8.1 (App Planet Stand 8.1A61) and Nordic Semiconductor in Hall (6 Stand 6H20) at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from March 2-5, 2015.
