Chubb Electronic Security has used its experience working with major high street jewellers to develop a bespoke CCTV surveillance and recording package specifically for the independent sector.  Chubb Electronic Security is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

"The benefit of CCTV today is that it is more flexible and more affordable than it has ever been before," explains Colin Walters, Head of CCTV at Chubb Electronic Security.  "This means that systems can be deployed cost-effectively in a variety of scenarios, not just for security, but for ‘general surveillance' to protect people and property from harm."

"Chubb Electronic Security has now taken this a step further, using our knowledge of the jewellery sector and buying power as a major systems provider to develop a ‘packaged' solution that enables independent jewellers to lease a fully installed and operating CCTV system for as little as £6.00 per week."

The basic ‘package' includes an unobtrusive mini-dome camera, 15-inch flat screen monitor and digital recording, on-site, for up to 31 days.  Jewellers have the option of further enhancing their system to include off-site monitoring, including real-time intervention by a third-party Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC) in the event an incident occurs.

"Obviously jewellers are vulnerable because of the value of their stock, so staff need to feel that they are protected, and that help is at hand should something happen," Colin continues.  "This is why Chubb Electronic Security has the option of off-site monitoring.  Should a member of staff feel threatened, they simply press a panic button and our highly skilled RVRC operators can ‘see' what is happening and summon help as required."

"A further benefit of the remote monitoring option is that it can be integrated with the jeweller's existing intruder alarm to verify whether an alarm is genuine or not, out of office hours.  In an age where police response continues to be an issue, and false alarms need to be kept to a minimum, this can be a very effective solution."

"Overall it is a ‘win win' for all concerned," Colin concludes, "giving owners and their employees total peace of mind at a price they can afford, safe in the knowledge that they are being supported by a major service provider with a local presence that they can trust."
