St Martin’s School, located in Northwood, has successfully completed a series of security enhancements across its main buildings and sports hall.
These upgrades, carried out by Amthal Fire & Security, took place during the school holidays to avoid impacting educational activities.

St Martin’s School is an independent preparatory institution that provides education to approximately 400 boys aged between 3 and 13. The campus comprises a blend of modern and long-standing structures, and the expanding facilities have exerted added stress on the older infrastructure.
This prompted the facility teams to engage Amthal for a review to ascertain if the existing security measures met the evolving operational requirements and safeguarding expectations.
Technical guidance and implementation
Amthal implemented the installation of a Texecom intruder alarm systemJames Crewe, the Estates and Facilities Manager at St Martin’s, commented on the collaboration with Amthal by stating, “Partnering with Amthal allowed us to review the security technology available and select solutions that suit the way our school operates. Planning and integrated solutions
The planning process involved comprehensive risk assessments, which included analysing how the school estate is utilised throughout the week, focusing on access routes and layouts. This approach directed attention towards developing a tailored, integrated security solution rather than merely replacing existing equipment.
Key improvements implemented by Amthal comprised the installation of a Texecom intruder alarm system. This system permits authorised personnel to monitor the site remotely and react promptly to any alerts.
Execution and ongoing management
All installation activities were concluded during the holiday period, which was followed by final testing and briefings for staff before the return of pupils.
