Alcatraz has announced the successful completion of operational testing and evaluation of its Rock X facial authentication system by the National Safe Skies Alliance (Safe Skies) at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu. This independent testing marks a significant step in airport security advancement.
Enhancing access control
The company is advancing access control systems through its AI-driven facial authentication technology, facilitating secure and seamless entry in high-demand settings. The Rock X platform is extensively utilised in diverse locations such as airports, Fortune 100 campuses, AI data centres, financial institutions, stadiums, and government facilities, where accuracy, compliance, and trust are crucial.
Privacy is a foundational element of the Rock X platform, which includes opt-in enrolment, encrypted biometric templates, and comprehensive audit reports. These features ensure compliance with major data protection regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and BIPA.
Improving airport security
Alcatraz CEO Tina D'Agostin highlighted the security challenges airports face, including workforce access and perimeter security. "Facial authentication for access control helps airports strengthen assurance at worker access points while reducing friction for authorised staff. Airports are already using biometrics at scale for passenger processing, so they are well placed to extend this transformative technology to employee and restricted-area access," she stated.

Safe Skies, an independent third-party organisation funded by the Federal Aviation Administration, specialises in evaluating the detection capabilities, reliability, and maintainability of security systems within active airport environments.
Operating under an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system, Safe Skies offers robust assessments of security measures.
