QNAP Systems, Inc. announced the release of the TS-251C Turbo NAS, a 2-bay compact NAS that offers the power of an Intel® Celeron® dual-core CPU at a budget-friendly price tag. Users can easily build a personal cloud and media center to enjoy a rich digital life using the TS-251C and benefit from other features including unrivaled real-time/offline Full HD video transcoding; video streaming via DLNA, AirPlay, Chromecast and Plex Media Server; HDMI-out with XBMC media player; and various apps for file & multimedia storage, backup and sharing.

“The TS-251C is the ideal choice for users to quickly create a secure personal space for file storage, backup, synchronisation and multimedia,” said Jason Hsu, product manager of QNAP. “It comes with a surprising price tag that offers an incredible choice for budget-concerned users that want the best possible performance.” Coupled with flexible storage expansion support, the TS-251C excels in the same price class with its powerful and versatile x86 architecture, and is the perfect solution for the growing needs of digital content storage in modern small offices and home environments.

Features

Powered by a dual-core Intel® Celeron® 2.41GHz processor with 1GB energy-efficient DDR3L RAM, the TS-251C provides up to 112 MB/s read & write speeds. With full NAS encryption setup, it maintains over 112 MB/s throughput for enhanced data security.

The TS-251C, with built-in hardware graphics acceleration, demonstrates excellent real-time and offline 1080p video transcoding capabilities to convert videos on-the-fly or in the background to universal formats that can be smoothly played on computers, mobile devices or Smart TVs. In the event of limited Internet bandwidth, users can still enjoy smooth videos by selecting a lower resolution to play the videos via File Station, Video Station, or the Qfile mobile app. The TS-251C allows multiple users to simultaneously watch different videos stored on it without affecting the performance of other running applications.

Advantages

Users can also connect the TS-251C to an HDTV via HDMI to enjoy videos with the HD Station and XBMC app. Videos can also be streamed throughout the home to HDTVs, smartphones and tablet devices using DLNA, AirPlay, Chromecast and Plex Media Server.

The compact TS-251C is perfect for creating a home multimedia hub. By using the Photo Station, Music Station and Video Station, users can easily archive, manage and share all of their photo, music and video collections. The TS-251C is also an all-in-one NAS for centrally organising files & backups, synchronising files across various devices, sharing files with different groups & communities, and remotely accessing & managing files on the go using the Qfile, Qmusic, Qphoto, Qvideo, Qmanager and Vmobile mobile apps.
