Physical security leaders seek to minimise network impact while maximising video quality and security When it comes to video surveillance systems, security professionals are most focused on maintaining quality at the right cost, simplifying management, and improving reliability. These findings – from a Razberi Technologies survey of more than 100 security systems integrators and enterprise security leaders – highlight the challenges of cost effectively capturing high quality video without making risky trade-offs that can result in lost video. Use of networked cameras Given the convergence of physical security on IP networks, the survey respondents also expressed early concerns about cybersecurity threats. Recent denial of service attacks have used networked cameras as an entry point. “As the number of networked video surveillance cameras increases, so does the strain on IP networks and physical security professionals. It’s difficult to ensure 24x7 operation of cameras and recording as well as harden systems against cyber-attacks,” said Tom Galvin, CEO of Razberi. “Many organisations are hauling megapixel video to centralised, general-purpose storage and servers not intended for video surveillance, which is costly and often requires sacrificing quality to save bandwidth.” The majority of security professionals are planning to install network cameras for video surveillance and security within the next year Main security considerations The survey found the majority of security professionals are planning to install network cameras for video surveillance and security within the next year (85 percent). Their number one focus for network camera installations is reducing technology and network costs (57 percent). Other top considerations are reliability, quality, and maintenance: Improving reliability of video for incidents to lower risks of lost video (51 percent) Enabling the use of the highest quality megapixel cameras for surveillance with no resolution or frame rate trade-offs (48 percent). This dovetails with the 66 percent who said they have had to implement a separate network to offload surveillance video from a business IP network due to bandwidth or performance issues. Making ongoing management and maintenance easier and more automated (54 percent) Cybersecurity vulnerabilities One-third of respondents said that “addressing cybersecurity concerns” is a top consideration. They identified four top cybersecurity vulnerabilities: Failing to update to the latest software or firmware Weak passwords Need for better multi-departmental cooperation between IT and security Lack of best practices for routine maintenance In terms of maintenance and reliability, 58 percent of survey respondents said their organisation receives proactive alerts when there are camera or video recording problems. However, 41 percent said they either do not receive alerts or don’t know if they do.

Razberi Enterprise ServerSwitch offers twice the performance of the standard unit Razberi Technologies — a leading developer of network video solutions for professional video surveillance and security applications — has enriched its incredibly successful line of easy-to-use and install ServerSwitch appliances with the release of the Enterprise ServerSwitch™, a high performance product that offers twice the performance of the standard unit. Twice the standard playback performance “Just as we rocked the IP video surveillance market with the original razberi ServerSwitch™ that combines a server, PoE, workstation, and video management software, we are now offering an enterprise-level solution that provides twice the standard playback performance of our original razberi™ line,” said Razberi Technologies President Tom Galvin. “The new Enterprise ServerSwitch™ MPE units offer the same concept of the original razberi™, but have increased performance and storage for customers needing larger video surveillance deployments.” The innovative razberi™ MPE ServerSwitch™ NVR replaces traditional servers, storage devices, network switches, and camera power supplies (PoE) with a single appliance designed for IP video recording. With embedded software from a variety of leading industry developers, the razberi™ MPE Series ServerSwitch™ is open platform with a broad range of selectable software features and includes a simple software installation tool to install any of the leading video-management recording software. Designed for internal video rated hard-drives The MPE ServerSwitch™ is purpose-built for recording and managing megapixel network video and is recommended for applications that require RAID 5 configurations and multiple playback streams. It’s embedded SmartSwitch™ is designed for internal video rated hard-drives, plus a web interface enables remote control and measurement of switch configuration such as PoE consumption and data transmission. The enterprise-grade razberi™ units come standard with datacenter rated drives and a full 16 GB of memory to handle the demands of high-end megapixel cameras. They are capable of supporting twice the standard playback performance of the original razberi ServerSwitch™ MPRO series while simultaneously recording on all 24 ports. All appliances come with a five-year complete-unit warranty. Result of the company’s incredible growth The release of the razberi™ Enterprise ServerSwitch™ is just one of several steps Razberi Technologies has taken recently as a result of the company’s incredible growth. Razberi Technologies raised $3.5 million in capital led by Texas-based LiveOak Venture Partners to support product development and growth and relocated company headquarters to a larger facility within the Dallas/Fort worth Metroplex. Razberi Technologies released Enterprise-Grade ServerSwitch™ at ISC West 2015.
The VyneWatch cloud-based service keeps users informed of the status of their video surveillance recording devices Razberi Technologies — a leading developer of network video solutions for professional video surveillance and security applications — has released VyneWatch™, a new product that monitors the status of users video recording devices, regardless of the video platform use. “Companies invest thousands of dollars into video surveillance security only to discover that something as simple as a routine server system update can sideline their ability to retrieve video — and they very often discover this too late,” said Razberi Technologies President Tom Galvin. “The new razberi VyneWatch™ cloud-based service provides extra protection to help users know when their system isn’t working properly so they can address the problem prior to losing any ability to recover important video.” VyneWatch monitoring system - cloud-based service The innovative razberi™ VyneWatch™ Monitoring System is a cloud-based service that keeps users informed of the status of their video surveillance recording devices — regardless of the video management software (VMS) platform you use. Even if you have an expansive IT department, it is often difficult to provide the manpower to evaluate all that could potentially knock your video system offline, for example, failure of hard disks to start properly or when utilisation is approaching the maximum for the system. “One of the strongest benefits of VyneWatch™ is that it provides companies an independent system monitor of equipment which leads to instant direct notification of any issues,” said Galvin. There are several ways in which VyneWatch™ works to monitor a video surveillance system: Server Monitoring — reports the current CPU load and memory utilisation and an inventory of the sever serial number, model, name, OS type, CPU model, clock speed, and memory capacity. This is done remotely via a simple and intuitive interface. Network Switch Monitoring — allows the visibility of traffic levels on uplink and camera ports. PoE power levels allow spotting a camera operating beyond normal limits. Sensors detail port setup, traffic levels, link speed, queue length, and PoE performance. Storage System Monitoring — hard drives are monitored for the amount of free space, transfer rates, queue lengths, RAID Status, and other performance indicators. Disks can also provide an inventory of devices including manufacturer, model, serial numbers, and capacity. Event Management — any time an event occurs, VyneWatch™ can instantly email or text a report to as many people are required, allowing proper simultaneous response.
