Magenta Security: Leading sustainability in security

In a significant achievement, Magenta Security Services celebrated its 30th anniversary by being honoured as the Security & Fire Sustainability Champion for the third consecutive year at the Security & Fire Excellence Awards.

This accolade highlights its sustained commitment to environmental responsibility within the sector, where the awards serve as a benchmark for excellence in security and fire disciplines. Magenta first achieved this distinction in 2023, repeated it in 2024, and now has cemented its reputation with a third win in 2025.

The Managing Director of Magenta Security Services, Abbey Petkar, commented on this recognition, saying, “Winning the Sustainability Champion title for the third year in a row, while celebrating 30 years in business, is an incredible milestone for everyone at Magenta.”

He further noted, “From the very beginning, we believed that security and sustainability must go hand in hand. This recognition shows that our approach is working for our clients, our people and the planet.”

Throughout its 30 years of operation, Magenta has integrated sustainability into its core practices. It was among the pioneering security firms to certify ISO 14001, embedding environmental management into its operations. Consequently, Magenta achieved carbon-zero status in 2022, ahead of its target set for 2025, without relying on offsets.

The company has implemented several environmental measures, such as maintaining a fully electric vehicle fleet powered by on-site solar charging, transitioning to 100 percent renewable electricity, implementing deep energy-efficiency upgrades, and operating a paperless office that conserves over 150 trees annually.

Cyber Essentials certification

Acknowledging that modern risks encompass both physical and digital realms, Magenta has expanded its focus to include cybersecurity through its arm, Threat Evolution.

This unit assists clients towards Cyber Essentials certification and offers penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and customised cyber awareness training, thereby extending Magenta’s dedication to resilience and data protection.

Magenta’s approach

Transparency plays a vital role in Magenta’s strategy. The firm shares its emissions data via the Carbon Database Initiative (CaDI), promoting scrutiny and disseminating practical insights on topics like the introduction of electric vehicles, energy use optimisation in older buildings, and reducing paper usage in security processes.

Locally, Magenta supports Police Community Clubs and sponsors children internationally, connecting its commercial success with enduring social values.

Abbey Petkar further emphasised the importance of sustainability, stating, “Sustainability is not a project for us. It is how Magenta works, from the vehicles we drive and the energy we use to the way we support communities and help clients improve their own environmental performance.” He concluded by noting the dual importance of the award, “To receive this award again, in our 30th year, is both a proud moment and a powerful motivation to keep raising the bar.”
