DRS’ CEO elected to Board of Directors of the National Defense Industrial Association

William J. Lynn III will serve on the NDIA board for a three-year term through 2016

DRS Technologies announced recently that its chief executive officer, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn III, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Defense Industrial Association.

Secretary Lynn will serve on the NDIA board for a three-year term through 2016. The board guides the association’s charter to advocate for cutting-edge technology and superior weapons, equipment, training, and support for the war fighters and first responders. The association also provides a diverse forum for the exchange of information between industry and government on national security issues.

“Many of us have worked with Bill in several of his former government roles, as comptroller of the Department of Defense and most recently as deputy secretary of defense. Bill is one of those unique individuals with in-depth experience in both government and industry, a big plus for his company and our association whose mission relates to understanding and collaborating on the best way to support our troops with best-in-world equipment and training,” said president and chief executive officer of the NDIA, Lawrence P. Farrell.  

Lynn said he is “proud to serve in a pivotal role that facilitates a productive dialogue between government and industry across a range of topics of common interest.” He noted that the NDIA has “tirelessly worked to contribute to the safety and security of the United States and its allies through many forums and events over the years.”

The NDIA provides individuals from academia, government, the military services, small businesses, prime contractors, and the international community with the opportunity to network effectively with the government-industry team and to keep abreast of the latest in technology developments. It provides forums to address and influence issues as well as government policies that are critical to the health of the defense industry and the preservation of U.S. national security.

The association's membership consists of more than 1,600 corporate members and nearly 92,700 individuals from across the spectrum of the defense and national industrial base.
