crowded and uncontrolled scenes

iOmniscient has successfully installed its Facial Recognition Software in conjunction with Cisco’s Video Management platform at the University of San Francisco, California, to improve physical security in residence halls.

USF required a technology that could accurately manage access to their halls of residence halls without being intrusive and causing an inconvenience to the students. Standard biometric technologies were not appropriate as they would have required co-operation from the students causing delays when large numbers of students were entering or leaving the halls.

iOmniscient’s Facial Recognition System in a Crowd was deployed. The system can recognise multiple faces even in very crowded and uncontrolled scenes. Matching faces with an existing database, the system checks whether a person entering the building is authorised to access that facility. If an unauthorised person is detected, the system can track him or her across non-overlapping cameras. The information is also sent to CISCO’s Video Management System where it alerts the front desk attendant. USF implemented the system as part of its commitment to provide its students with a safer college environment.

The system also increased the productivity of the staff. The University was able to achieve its objectives far more effectively and with fewer staff than if they had to perform this task manually.

With the help of this analytics system, around 10,000 students at the University of San Francisco can feel more safe and comfortable in their residences knowing that there will be no unauthorized intruders.

For several years iOmniscient and CISCO have collaborated to provide Intelligent Surveillance Solutions to their customers and USF is one of many happy customers who continue to implement advanced intelligent video solutions to ensure the safety of their students and the efficiency of their staff.
