Alarm.com has announced the appointment of Bert McGaughey as the International Business Development Manager.
Following this move, McGaughey will focus on enhancing dealer growth and nurturing partner development in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and South Africa. He will directly report to Aitor Gauna, Alarm.com's European Sales Director, as the company advances its presence in international markets.
Professional expertise and industry experience
Bert McGaughey brings with him over 15 years of experience, having worked within the security, smart home, and connected technology sectors. His career has primarily centred around fostering dealer and distributor relationships across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Fire Alarm Signalling Systems
Before joining Alarm.com, McGaughey was with EBS Sp. z o.o. as an International Sales Manager. His tenure involved managing accounts and spearheading business development in several regions, including Turkey, the UK, Ireland, the Benelux area, and Nigeria. His focus during this period was on critical-path intruder and fire alarm signalling systems.
Previous Roles and Contributions
His career prior to EBS saw more than four years spent as Area Manager for SATEL, a security systems manufacturer based in Europe. There, McGaughey was integral in building up the company’s customer base, offering sales, technical training, and field support across regions such as the UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, and various African markets including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Tanzania. Previously, he held leadership roles in supply chain and operations at Satel UK and Perfect Integration, a London-based smart home technology integrator recognised for its innovative solutions.

The appointment of McGaughey coincides with Alarm.com's ongoing international expansion. The company has recently surpassed 1 million active subscriber accounts globally, with video attachment rates reaching 33% as it expands its residential and commercial international offerings.
Alarm.com has also introduced its AI-powered capabilities into new territories, such as the AI Deterrence feature with support for Spanish and French-Canadian languages. This year, they released the Fire Communicator (ADC-FC100), broadening its commercial fire services alongside intrusion, access control, and video offerings on the Alarm.com for Business platform. Currently, Alarm.com's platform provides support for nearly 10 million properties worldwide, working through an extensive network of service provider partners.
