The HID Trusted Tag services pilot results successfully demonstrate its ability to provide “proof of presence” HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, announced recently the results of its HID Trusted Tag™ Services pilot that successfully demonstrate its ability to provide “proof of presence” and an auditable Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) record of caregivers in patients’ homes. Partnering in the pilot program were Dial-N-Document®, which provides visit verification and documentation software to document employee activities, and Integrity Home Care, which offers a full range of home-based care services. The pilot program is designed to test HID Trusted Tag Services’ ability to provide real-time authentication of caregiver visits using smartphones. Integrity Home Care case managers installed HID’s tamper-proof tags, which feature unique security and privacy attributes, to a light switch inside the patients’ homes. Upon arrival, caregivers tap the tag with their Near Field Communication (NFC) smartphone to create a secure connection to the Dial-N-Document system for authentication. This integrates seamlessly with the full encounter documentation captured by Dial-N-Document and is transmitted directly to Integrity’s billing payroll and scheduling software. In addition to a 100% authentication accuracy rate, preliminary results of the pilot program demonstrate that use of HID Trusted Tag Services increased caregiver productivity by eliminating up to 30 seconds from each check-in. “Partnering with HID Global has enabled us to make a seamless transition from traditional IVR to next-generation NFC-enabled, web-based documentation and authentication technology to meet the increasingly complex verification needs of our home health clients,” said Don O’Rourke, president, Dial-N-Document. “The results of this pilot program demonstrate conclusively that NFC technology and HID Trusted Tag Services in particular is an effective mechanism for location authentication, which is the critical first step in compliant documentation of patient encounters.” “Dial-N-Document’s interactive online documentation system combined with the simplicity of HID Global’s trusted tags created a solution that is fast, easy to use and doesn’t require our caregivers to use unfamiliar devices,” said Jean Halbrook, IT software manager, Integrity Home Care. “It is an evolution that represents a significant advancement in documentation and EVV that will ultimately benefit patients as well as home health providers and payers.” When integrated with a comprehensive documentation platform like Dial-N-Document, HID Trusted Tag Services complies with the EVV requirements for home health agencies enacted by several states as a condition of Medicaid participation in response to rampant billing fraud. In addition to providing an indisputable and auditable EVV record for agencies to use for billing and reimbursement, HID Trusted Tag Services integrates seamlessly into most clinical and administrative management software systems for real-time data transmissions that enable faster and more accurate claims processing and advanced analytics. “Dial-N-Document’s partnership and the participation of Integrity Home Care were integral to the success of this pilot program,” said Marc Bielmann, vice president of Identification Technologies with HID Global. “It marks an important step forward in validating HID Trusted Tag Services as an effective solution for providing home health agencies with the security they need to comply with increasing complex regulatory mandates and protect themselves and their patients from fraud.”

When integrated into iZipline’s platform, this enables global brands to authenticate each product’s package, protecting both a company’s brand and consumers from counterfeit goods while also delivering chain-of-custody benefits. Trusted tags also provide iZipline with secure connections for instant delivery of relevant and timely product content to consumers via their mobile device. “Success in the IoT environment requires transparent, frictionless authentication that enables brands and consumers to connect on an immediate and personal level,” said Marc Bielmann, vice president of Identification Technologies with HID Global. “We are pleased that our HID Trusted Tag Services enable iZipline to engage and protect brands and consumers by leveraging the security and convenience that trusted tags bring to packaging and mobile interactions.”
HID’s trusted tags provide “proof of presence” of caregiver in the patient’s home, thereby eliminating opportunity to falsify records HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, recently announced that its HID Trusted Tag Services™ meets the EVV requirements for home health agencies enacted by several states as a condition of Medicaid participation. HID’s trusted tags provide indisputable “proof of presence” of the caregiver in the patient’s home, thereby eliminating the opportunity to falsify records to support fraudulent claims. Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements for home-based care in excess of $31 billion and a booming home health industry that is expected to reach a value of $150.8 billion by 2018 have given rise to a multi-billion dollar fraud problem for public and private insurers. One of the most common fraudulent activities is submission of claims for payment on services that were never provided, a situation exacerbated by manual verification processes that make it easy to falsify records pertaining to the presence of a caregiver at a patient’s home. To eliminate fraudulent claims, a several state Medicaid programs now require home health agencies to implement EVV systems to prove that a caregiver was physically present in the patient’s home for the required length of time. While some states mandate the use of specific EVV equipment, others simply require EVV systems that meet minimum technical and functional standards. “HID Trusted Tags satisfy these requirements by leveraging the near ubiquitous nature of NFC-enabled mobile devices to enable a highly secure EVV system that is both easy to use and impossible to defraud,” said Marc Bielmann, Vice President of Identification Technologies with HID Global. “Our patented tag technology optimises security and convenience, eliminating the need for special equipment to read tags or for users to modify their mobile device or download apps.” Tamper-proof tags are attached to or embedded into an object inside the patient’s home in such a way that they cannot surreptitiously be removed or altered. When the caregiver arrives, they tap the object with their NFC-enabled device to communicate secure information to HID Global’s cloud-based authentication platform. The data read from a trusted tag has security and privacy attributes that change on every tap, providing an indisputable and auditable EVV record for home health agencies to use for billing and reimbursement. “HID Trusted Tag Services also integrates seamlessly into most clinical and administrative management software systems, which means agencies can continue to use the systems that most closely meet their unique needs,” said Bielmann. “In addition to sparing the expense associated with system upgrades or replacement, easy integration means data collected at the point of care can be transmitted back to the agency in real-time for faster and more accurate claims processing and advanced analytics.”
