Effective March 1, 2018, the Bosch Security Systems division will be known as Bosch Building Technologies. In the system integration business, Bosch Security Systems already offers its customers a broad range of security, safety, and communication technology solutions. “We want the scope of our portfolio to be reflected better in our name as well,” says Gert van Iperen, president of the Bosch Security Systems division. The division comprises two organisationally discrete units, the global product business and the regional system integration services business, which operates in eight countries. Integrated solutions for commercial buildings In these eight countries, the system integration unit provides integrated solutions for commercial buildings. Depending on the region, the portfolio includes building security, energy services, and building automation. For customers, this means planning, installation, and operation of these solutions, as well as additional services, from a single source. The product business – to be known in the future as Bosch Security and Safety Systems – will continue to operate as a global supplier of video, intrusion, fire-alarm, and voice-alarm systems, as well as of access control systems and management software, all under the Bosch brand. Its portfolio is rounded off with professional audio and conference systems for the transmission of voice, sound, and music. The products are distributed exclusively to system integrators or through wholesale dealers. This step will not affect the names of the division’s legal entities. Combinig Security Units In its product business, Bosch Security Systems will merge its video systems, intrusion detection, as well as its access control and management software business units to form a single business unit, known as Security. In making this move, Bosch is responding to the growing demand for sector-specific, integrated security solutions. “In combining these three business units, our aim is to ensure we can meet our customers’ needs even better in the future. In the years ahead, we want to actively shape the process of transformation brought about by the internet of things, as well as to focus more on connectivity, integrated solutions, and services. At the same time, this move will strengthen our competitiveness,” van Iperen says.
Sony’s associates join new dedicated sales and marketing team within Bosch Security Systems After the official approval of the antitrust authorities, the business partnership of Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corporation in the field of video security solutions became effective by February 1, 2017 – except for in China where the partnership will start on April 1, 2017. Both companies will now focus on strengthening their collaboration that was first announced in November 2016. The partnership entails both a sales and marketing cooperation as well as a technical collaboration. As part of the sales and marketing partnership, Sony’s video security sales and marketing associates joined a newly formed dedicated team within the Bosch Security System organisation. Sony`s video security customers, in all markets except Japan, will be served and supported by this sales and marketing team. Jointly developed security products “We are happy to welcome these experienced colleagues in our organisation and are convinced we will further grow the business with Sony’s products by providing excellent support and service to our customers”, says Michael Hirsch, Vice President for Sales and Marketing of the Sony Security Business within Bosch. “We are delighted that Sony’s video security customers are now being supported by Bosch Security Systems. Launch of G6 Full HD network cameras Starting as of May 2017, all network cameras from the IP 4000 series will be equipped with built-in video analytics as a standard Regarding the technical cooperation, both companies are aiming to set new standards with regard to high resolution video imaging, combined with excellent light sensitivity, complemented by Bosch’s expertise in built-in video analytics and latest bitrate management techniques. In March 2017, Sony will launch eight new Full-HD (1080p) video security cameras within its sixth generation (G6) range of network cameras, meeting the ever-increasing demand for greater image clarity within the video security market. New G6 cameras’ high sensitivity capabilities ensure that the colour integrity of images is maintained even in extreme lowlight situations. At the same time, Bosch is updating its portfolio concerning video analytics and bitrate management. Starting as of May 2017, all network cameras from the IP 4000 series will be equipped with built-in video analytics as a standard as well as latest bitrate management techniques combined with H.265 video encoding, reducing bitrate by up to 80 percent. Both Sony’s and Bosch’s innovations will be presented at ISC West 2017 (April 5-7) in Las Vegas, USA.
