In a strategic shift announced last December, Plusserver has partnered with SHD to enhance its cloud service offerings, according to IT-BUSINESS. The Cologne-based managed hosting provider has positioned itself as a regional cloud service provider and aims to expand its partner business further in 2023, building on initiatives launched last year.
SHD, with a decade of experience in operating data centres, is set to leverage the "SHD Enterprise Cloud" to not only distribute Plusserver's offerings but also integrate Pluscloud as the backbone for its own solutions and managed services. By mid-year, SHD plans to transition existing workloads from its data centre to Plusserver's cloud, fostering a more flexible and scalable infrastructure capable of supporting managed services.
Data centre operations and security standards
Plusserver's Pluscloud spans four data centres across Hamburg, Cologne, and Düsseldorf. For SHD, the security certifications Plusserver holds were a significant factor in the collaboration.
These include ISO 9001, ISO 27001, IDW PH 9.860.1, and compliance with the BSI's Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalogue (C5), ensuring robust security and privacy for customers. "The modernisation of the SHD Enterprise Cloud is just the first step in a partnership of equals," states Ohnacker. "Plusserver meets all data security and privacy requirements for customers, and our solutions thus form the basis for new portfolio elements from SHD."
Just last December, Plusserver announced a far-reaching cooperation with SHD. Now, IT-BUSINESS reports that the managed hosting provider Plusserver has evolved into a regional cloud provider. For 2023, the Cologne-based company has its sights set on expanding its partner business, having laid the groundwork for this last year.
SHD has been operating a data center for ten years, providing infrastructure resources to customers as a service. Under the "SHD Enterprise Cloud" label, SHD will not only sell the cloud provider's offerings in the future, but also use its Pluscloud as the technological basis for its own products and managed services.
Providing infrastructure resources
By the middle of this year, SHD will migrate existing workloads from its own data center to the Plusserver cloud. The Saxon company views this cooperation as an opportunity to further develop its infrastructure business. This will allow them to provide managed services on a flexible, scalable, and geographically distributed cloud platform.
Plusserver operates the Pluscloud in four data centers in Hamburg, Cologne, and Düsseldorf. An important criterion for SHD was also the security certifications that the provider has obtained for its systems. These include certificates and attestations according to the standards ISO 9001, 27001, IDW PH 9.860.1, and the BSI's Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalogue (C5).
