Codelocks International Ltd, a worldwide developer of coded locks, has unveiled a new collaboration with CES Security Solutions Ltd, a company known for its expertise in patented key systems.
This partnership allows certain Codelocks products to be compatible with CES Security's patented key cylinders, integrating two established access control technologies into one cohesive solution. Customers will now have the advantage of coded access combined with the security and dependability of patented master keys.
Access control technologies
Colin Campbell, CEO at Codelocks International Ltd, stated, “We’ve worked with CES on an ad hoc basis to give the customers who ask for it the ability to include their digital locks as part of their master key system. In addition, we receive regular enquiries – for a key that cannot be easily copied, and we can integrate these with our digital locks to provide a fully combined access control solution.”
The CES Security key system holds a patent valid until 2038, ensuring that keys cannot be duplicated without authorisation. Each override key is individually registered with CES Security, offering complete auditability, which is increasingly required in regulated environments such as healthcare, education, and government facilities, as well as commercial offices.
Providing complete auditability
Such systems allow a single key to unlock multiple locks, while limiting each key to specific doors
The first products from Codelocks to feature this new capability are the mechanical CL500 Key and CL600 locks, alongside the electronic CL5000. These products, while maintaining their existing features, can be configured into a CES Security master key system.
Such systems allow a single key to unlock multiple locks, while limiting each key to specific doors, thereby establishing a tiered access structure that simplifies key management across large or multi-occupancy locations. The unique adaptation of CES Security Solutions' patented cylinder specifically for Codelocks digital locks distinguishes this system from others.
Managing complex environments
CES Security's patented cylinders are designed for drop-in, retrofit use, enabling current Codelocks users to easily update their CL500 Key, CL600, and CL5000 locks.
This gives existing clients the opportunity to establish a master lock system or merge their coded locks into an existing hierarchy. Mario Del-Signore, Managing Director at CES Security, remarked, “This partnership will help larger users – whether in co-working offices, education or healthcare – manage their complex environments with reduced numbers of keys, greater confidence and security, and the simplicity of coded access.”
Key cylinder range
He further expressed excitement about the added benefits for locksmiths and installers, who can now enhance an existing Codelocks installation with a patented master key system, offering customers a more refined solution.
“The partnership itself grew naturally out of working together on several sizeable projects that were, in effect, an incredibly successful proof of concept. Dan Rising, our National Sales Manager, was instrumental in turning that into something formal, and I think what we can now offer reflects the strength of the CES-Codelocks relationship.” The range of registered key cylinders from Codelocks and CES Security Solutions Ltd is now available. These products hold CE marking across various latch and lock variants and meet BS EN 1634-12 standards for fire door applications when paired with a Codelocks FireKit.
