  • SAS Technology debuts TALPS system at 'Aisios Oionos 2025' Greek defence exercise.
  • TALPS: Advanced autonomous precision-strike integrating UCAV SARISA II, requiring minimal human intervention.
  • TALPS optimises firing accuracy with aim-correction, allowing full battlespace integration capabilities.

SAS Technology has taken a significant step forward with the debut of its Tactical Autonomous Laser Precision Strike (TALPS) system during the "Aisios Oionos 2025" exercise.

This event was hosted by the Hellenic Armed Forces in the Alexandroupolis–Evros region, marking a pivotal moment for Greek defence technology as part of the continuing operational integration of the UCAV SARISA II.

Key attendees at the event

The exercise drew distinguished guests, including the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikos Dendias, and General Dimitrios Choupis, Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff. High-ranking officers from various branches of the Hellenic Armed Forces were also present.

Attendees were briefed on the ground to witness the latest advancements enabled by Greek defence innovations.

Capabilities of the TALPS system

The TALPS system stands out as a comprehensive tactical autonomous precision-strike solution. It's engineered to detect, identify, and verify targets while necessitating minimal human input, such as in tactical decisions related to target selection and trigger control, maintaining a man-in-the-loop approach.

TALPS leverages the autonomous power of the UCAV SARISA II, able to operate solo or within a coordinated swarm for strategic strikes.

Aim-Correction Algorithm

Central to the TALPS system is its sophisticated aim-correction algorithm. This feature enhances accuracy by adjusting for environmental variables such as wind and temperature, alongside the aircraft's ongoing positional and motion data.

The system autonomously adjusts heading, attitude, altitude, and launcher angle to secure optimal firing conditions. Once ready, TALPS requests target designation and commences the strike after confirmation.

Integration and Autonomous Operation

TALPS offers a streamlined yet fully autonomous operational framework. Key components include a command-and-control station, a fixed-wing ISR/Designator UAV, and multiple UCAV SARISA IIs.

This system also supports integration with other assets, such as aircraft, helicopters, and ground vehicles armed with laser-guided munitions, ensuring thorough battlespace cohesion. With its open architecture and adaptability, TALPS represents a cutting-edge advancement in autonomous defence systems emerging from Greece.

Show full press release

SAS Technology successfully participated in the Hellenic Armed Forces exercise “Aisios Oionos 2025”, held in the wider Alexandroupolis–Evros region.

During the exercise, the company demonstrated for the first time the TALPS (Tactical Autonomous Laser Precision Strike) system — an advanced autonomous precision-strike capability developed as part of the ongoing operational employment of the UCAV SARISA II.

The event was honoured by the presence of the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikos Dendias, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis, the Chiefs of the General Staffs, and senior officers of the Hellenic Armed Forces, who were briefed on the field about the new operational capabilities enabled by Greek defiance technology.

Fully integrated tactical autonomous precision-strike system

TALPS is a fully integrated tactical autonomous precision-strike system that:

  • Detects, identifies, verifies and designates targets,
  • Performs strikes using a single UCAV SARISA II or a swarm of UCAVs,
  • Requires minimal human intervention, limited solely to tactical/safety decisions — i.e., target selection and trigger activation (man-in-the-loop).

Aim-correction algorithm

After taking position, the system activates the aim-correction algorithm, which optimises firing accuracy based on prevailing environmental conditions (wind, temperature) as well as the aircraft’s positional and motion parameters (attitude, VelX–VelY).

Based on these computations, the UCAV performs continuous autonomous corrections to heading, attitude, altitude, and launcher angle to acquire and maintain optimal firing parameters. Once firing readiness is achieved, the system requests designation, and upon confirmation, executes the strike under man-in the-loop control.

Fully autonomous configuration

TALPS operates with a minimal yet fully autonomous configuration — a C2 station with the TALPS Platform, an organic fixed-wing ISR/Designator UAV, and two or more UCAV SARISA II.

It can also integrate external effectors (aircraft, helicopters, or ground vehicles carrying laser-guided munitions), achieving full battlespace integration. Its open architecture, adaptability, and high degree of automation place it among the most advanced next-generation autonomous systems developed in Greece.
