At this year's ADIPEC event, Synectics is set to exhibit its AI-driven surveillance technology aimed specifically at oil, gas, and transitional energy sectors while commemorating the 40th anniversary of its COEX camera series.
Visitors can find Synectics at stand 15548 in Hall 15, The Chevron Hall, where they will demonstrate how COEX hazardous and safe area camera stations, coupled with the Synergy software, contribute to cost reduction, safety enhancement, and prolonged asset life for both traditional and new energy facilities.
Edge-based intelligence and flexibility
Synectics is focusing on accelerating edge analytics for COEX cameras. The latest models now integrate functionalities like personal protective equipment (PPE) monitoring, traditionally only available in control room software.
Darren Alder, Head of Oil & Gas at Synectics, states, “COEX cameras deliver powerful edge-based analytics through advanced in-camera processing. By handling data directly at the source, they significantly reduce server, network, and infrastructure demands while ensuring efficient, precise, and scalable AI-driven performance. Whether deployed with Synergy or integrated with other video management systems, customers gain the real-time intelligence they need to make faster, better-informed decisions.”
Cost-efficient camera and capability upgrades
Synectics has produced a practical guide targeting surveillance upgrades
The introduction of integrated infrared (IR) illumination to the COEX camera line is cited as reducing both costs and complexity. Darren Alder highlights, “This makes a big difference to cost and complexity. It's a straightforward way to improve performance where IR is a real benefit to security and process monitoring while reducing maintenance overheads.”
The focus on cost efficiency is crucial for brownfield sites and oil, gas, and vessel ship management companies. Synectics has produced a practical guide targeting surveillance upgrades. This guide emphasises optimising existing infrastructure while planning for future demands rather than complete replacements, to prolong asset life and enhance monitoring capabilities.
Supporting the energy transition
Synectics continues its role as a dependable partner within the oil and gas industry, delivering bespoke solutions for offshore platforms, rigs, FPSOs, and gas processing facilities. The company has been active in significant liquefied natural gas (LNG), floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG), and refining contracts, while also increasing its involvement in security and surveillance projects supporting the energy transition—from carbon capture installations to offshore wind farms and broader renewable projects.
Ross Chapman, International Business Development Manager, remarks, “Operators are looking for solutions that make their facilities secure, safer and more efficient today while also aligning with the future shape of the energy sector. Whether it’s traditional hydrocarbons or renewables, COEX cameras and Synergy software meet these requirements.”
During ADIPEC 2025, Synectics will showcase how its four decades of engineering expertise, coupled with the latest edge analytics and system integration, remain pivotal in shaping surveillance solutions for mission-critical energy infrastructure.
