This new service pack provides software improvements for C•CURE 9000 v2.70 and new capabilities to enhance the security and safety of a facility and improve system administration. C•CURE 9000 can now be deployed under an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) model, reducing or eliminating the need for onsite server hardware. "As demand for cloud deployments continues to grow, Johnson Controls offers a solution that enables customers to take advantage of the flexibility and resilience provided by this technology," said Rick Focke, director of Enterprise Access Control. Addition of Area Supervisor In addition to fixes and solutions that are driven by the Software House Customer Support team and prioritised by severity and impact, C•CURE 9000 SP1 delivers additional capabilities that enhance security. While previous versions of C•CURE 9000 had the capability to designate dynamic area managers for added oversight, it didn’t meet the needs of some security teams. The addition of Area Supervisor ensures that one or more personnel designated as supervisors must accompany personnel designated as supervised into an area at all times. For example, Area Supervisor is used in retail banking when a supervisor must be in the area at all times during cash counting procedures. Johnson Controls introduces its multi-functional Software House TST-100 Touchscreen Terminal, providing an enhanced end-user experience at the door. With an intuitive touchscreen user interface, native intrusion functionality and compatibility with both legacy and IP-based door controllers from Software House, the TST-100 Touchscreen Terminal adds value to the access control system by allowing users to have more flexibility and control at the reader level. LCD touchscreen access control display The TST-100 features a large, 4.3-inch graphical LCD touchscreen that displays a range of colorful icons and custom command menus, providing end users with quick and easy feedback of the access control operation, and allows guards and other individuals the ability to easily arm and disarm intrusion zones and issue custom commands directly at the door. Built using the HID Global 5127 Mini multi-technology read head, the Touchscreen Terminal supports a range of highly secure smart card technologies, including HID iCLASS SE and iCLASS Seos. It uses high speed encrypted RS485 for secure communications to an IP controller, making it ideal for healthcare facilities, educational facilities, airports and other critical security environments where network connectivity directly to a reader on the unsecure side is not allowed. Intrusion functionality at the door “The TST-100 Touchscreen Terminal hits several targets of multi-functionality, advanced security and ultimate usability all within a sleek, user-friendly touchscreen interface,” said Rick Focke, senior product manager, Building Technologies & Solutions, Johnson Controls. “With the TST-100 Touchscreen Terminal, we deliver to our ends users what they have come to expect from Software House – a high-end touchscreen terminal with functionality and depth that will continue to deepen in future version releases.” The TST-100 Touchscreen Terminal also offers intrusion functionality at the door without the addition of an intrusion interface, allowing end users to view arm/disarm intrusion zones on the device. A command menu provides end users with the ability to issue custom key commands to the intrusion system as well. The reader’s programming includes Johnson Controls’ Reliable Messaging (RM) protocol that facilitates compatibility with any iSTAR door controller. The Touchscreen Terminal can be added to any Software House platform, including the C•CURE 9000 Security + Event Management system, and can also be integrated with the victor Unified Client. IP-based Ethernet Access Control Door Module The TST-100 Touchscreen Terminal includes the IP-based Ethernet Access Control Door Module (IP-ACM) from Software House, which when installed near the doors it controls, establishes secure IP, network-based communications with iSTAR door controllers using cyber-secure AES encryption. The Touchscreen Reader’s IP-ACM door module also includes Power over Ethernet (POE) capability, helping to lower installation costs.
Johnson Controls introduces the newest versions of its C•CURE 9000 security and event management platform from Software House to now include greater credential security and flexibility in smart card encoding by integrating with two new smart card technologies. Secure credential management New personnel and credential management functionalities for the Software House C•CURE 9000 v2.60 SP1 (standalone) and v2.61 (unified with victor from American Dynamics) adds support for NXP MIFARE DesFire EV1 and EV2 smart card encoding. This allows multiple applications, such as access control, vending, and parking to be combined into a single contactless smart card, with the user in complete control of the card’s memory and key material. To further protect against card tampering, the encoding setup features an optional anti-cloning diversified key, per NXP’s Generic Access Control Data Model. Fast and secure data transmission is made possible with advanced AES-128 encryption. Both smart code encoding platforms are ideal for transportation, government, education and other vertical markets which require a high level of security and fast credential data transmission speed. Also, visitor management capabilities of the platform have been extended to include multi-language support and the ability to assign a QR code to a visitor that can be used at the self-service kiosk application upon arrival. A visitor simply scans the QR code and the app auto-populates the visitor information into the appropriate fields for quick and easy check-in. The information is then sent directly to the host to notify him/her of the visitor’s arrival.

The 2-Reader IP-ACM Ethernet edge device extends the scalability of a network-based access control system Tyco Security Products is pleased to announce the 2-Reader IP Access Control Module (IP-ACM) from Software House, an Ethernet edge device that extends the scalability and cost-effectiveness of a network-based access control system. The IP-ACM will be on display at the Tyco Security Products booth 20005 at ISC West, April 6-8, in Las Vegas, Nev. The IP-ACM is installed near the doors it controls, helping to reduce wiring and installation costs. The door module can leverage a facility’s existing IT network to securely communicate via AES 256-bit encryption with an iSTAR Ultra General Controller Module (GCM), where the access control decisions are made using the local access database. The IP-ACM is a highly flexible device, capable of supporting two individual doors or one door with in-and-out readers. It is extremely scalable - in a pure IP deployment, up to 32 IP-ACMs can be networked to one GCM. The door modules can even be used in a hybrid solution in conjunction with traditional centrally wired doors for retrofit situations. Offers configurable offline mode The IP-ACM is one of the industry’s only IP door modules that offer a configurable offline mode to allow authorised card holders to gain access if network communications are lost. The unit can be set to allow either no access or admit the last 1,000 previous known good cards or admit personnel from a specific personnel group. Card transactions are retained and uploaded when the IP-ACM comes back online. With the certification of iSTAR Edge and iSTAR Ultra, Software House becomes the first company to offer a full lineup of FIPS 140-2 approved controllers covering a wide range of access control scenarios. FIPS 140-2 is an information technology security validation program that certifies products and systems for use in government-run and other highly regulated industries, such as finance and healthcare, where sensitive information is collected, stored, and shared. The FIPS 140-2 requirements are among the government’s most stringent requirements for product design, documentation, and secure operations. “The certification of these physical access controllers addresses two of our government and enterprise customers’ most critical needs: compliance and choice,” said Rick Focke, Senior Product Manager, Tyco Security Products. “Receiving FIPS 140-2 validation ensures the products’ conformity for use with sensitive information, while offering multiple products with this key certification makes Software House’s iSTAR line the most versatile choice on the market today.” iSTAR Edge is an IP-based edge device serving smaller one- to four-door PoE network applications, while the powerful and scalable iSTAR Ultra, which is built on the Linux platform, supports up to 32 readers.
