The deadline for nominations for the 2015 Security Personnel Awards is 1st November 2014 Members of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) are being encouraged to submit their nominations for 2015’s Security Personnel Awards, with the submission deadline fast approaching. The BSIA’s prestigious annual awards are presented both regionally and nationally, and reward security personnel for their achievements across five key categories: Service to the Customer, Outstanding Act, Best Newcomer, Best Use of Technology and Best Team. Sponsored by specialist insurance brokers to the BSIA and the security industry, Camberford Law PLC, 2014’s Security Personnel Awards saw over 20 high-calibre regional winners and 16 outstanding national winners recognised for their contributions to community safety and developing our industry’s positive reputation, from saving lives to implementing intelligent technology to solve crime and reduce financial loss. The deadline for nominations for the 2015 awards is 1st November 2014, with the judging for the regional awards taking place throughout December. Those winners of the regional rounds are then put forward to the nationals, with judging taking place in March 2014, culminating in a glittering awards ceremony at the BSIA’s Annual Lunch in July. Sponsoring 2014’s Annual Lunch event was BSIA member company, Eaton’s Security Business, whose decision to get involved was based on a desire to recognise individual achievements within the industry. Steve Salter aims to maintain the effectiveness of Eaton’s environmental and health and safety management system Power Management company, Eaton recently announced that its security business has reaffirmed its commitment to manufacturing products and systems that offer industry leading standards of reliability, by appointing Steve Salter as its new quality manager. From Kidderminster, Salter brings his extensive experience in the aerospace industry to his new role. Prior to joining Eaton he was employed by Pattonair, a leading aerospace supply chain service provider, as its business process manager. Working closely with companies such as Rolls-Royce and Boeing, he was responsible for ensuring world-class performance by maintaining the highest quality standards. His experience in the sector also involved the development of flight actuation systems, solid propellant rocket motors, as well as dealing with a wide range of service fulfilment challenges. Although new to the security industry, Salter believes that effective quality management is vital to all business sectors. He commented, “Since joining, I have been very impressed with the excellent reputation that the Menvier and Scantronic products have amongst installers and end users in the security industry.
