ProdataKey (PDK), manufacturer of renowned cloud access control platform built for mobile, introduces “Present-to-Open,” a new touchless way for Pdk io users to interact with their system’s Touch io Bluetooth readers. With Present-to-Open, users hold their smartphone within proximity of the reader to initiate immediate authentication of their credentials, eliminating any delay in unlocking the door or need to touch the reader. The phone may remain locked as long as the Touch App and mobile credentials have been installed on the user’s device. Certified systems integrator Individual or group permissions define when and on which doors this feature will work for each employee or tenant, as set by the system administrator. The Present-to-Open functionality can be added to any existing Touch io Bluetooth reader through a simple firmware update performed by a PDK-certified systems integrator. Update tools are available within the configuration section of the pdk io app. A thorough explanation of the update process may be found on PDK’s online knowledgebase. Pdk io is the only access control solution to offer three distinct touchless methods that can be used interchangeably" “Our Touch io reader has been one of our most popular product introductions, and during a pandemic, offering touch-free options to engage with it has become a huge selling point. In introducing this new Present-to-Open feature, Pdk io is the only access control solution to offer three distinct touchless methods that can be used interchangeably by system users,” says Jeff Perri, ProdataKey’s President and COO. Remotely unlock doors In addition to Present-to-Open, Touch io Bluetooth readers respond to users who wave their hand in front of the device. Users may also remotely unlock doors by pushing a button within the Touch App - a touchless option that utilises Wi-Fi and does not require Bluetooth readers. A short video demonstrates these capabilities. The Touch io Bluetooth readers and Touch App may be used on internal and external doors. For more information about PDK’s products, including the Touch io Bluetooth Reader and its Present-to-Open feature, as well as general information, documentation, case studies and other resources, one can visit the company’s official website.
ProdataKey (PDK), manufacturer of the cloud access control platform built for mobile, releases a whitepaper that explores the differentiating features and distinct advantages of a Mobile First access control platform. Built from the ground up with the needs of the mobile user foremost in mind, Mobile First platforms are designed with the mobile experience as the default method by which integrators, technicians, system administrators, managers, tenants, and employees engage with the system. Expansive range of capabilities The whitepaper examines what Mobile First means to each of these stakeholders by offering specific examples of how its anytime, anywhere access expands the platform's usability in numerous and sometimes unexpected ways. Mobile First access control is conflated with more common mobile apps and mobile credentialing options Too often, Mobile First access control is conflated with more common mobile apps and mobile credentialing options, which provide only partial mobile functionality. This whitepaper addresses the more expansive range of capabilities that Mobile First solutions support, such as simplified installation, proactive maintenance, customer support, integration flexibility, unlimited credentialing, greater productivity by system managers, and much more. Access control projects These Mobile First advantages are in addition to the obvious convenience and superior security obtained when encrypted credentials on mobile devices replace users' keys and fobs. “As security stakeholders increasingly demand a mobile component to their access control projects, it’s important for them to understand their options.” “They often mistakenly believe that mobile access control means nothing more than allowing employees and tenants to open doors. They deserve better. We hope that this whitepaper helps to clarify why, in a world in which mobile device use now exceeds computer use, it makes the most sense to consider access control solutions that are 100% designed for the small screen,” said Jeff Perri, President and COO of ProdataKey.
ProdataKey (PDK), the manufacturer of the cloud access control platform built for mobile, announces several updates to its ‘touch’ Bluetooth reader and mobile app that further distinguish the pdk io solution as the most convenient, seamless, access control experience on the market. Unlike other mobile access control solutions, which require users to unlock and present their phone in place of a fob, PDK’s touch reader automatically senses encrypted credentials on locked phones carried by users, even when they’re deep inside pockets, bags and purses. Mobile-first solution The reader’s new ‘touch-free’ feature, designed to support COVID-19 best-practices for workplace safety, allows credentialed users to simply wave their hand within 2-3 inches of the reader in order to indicate an intent to enter. The result is a touch-free, hassle-free ‘walk-through’ experience that requires no contact with phone nor reader. PDK’s ‘touch app’, a separate component of the pdk io mobile-first solution, allows users to unlock entrances remotely with the push of a button within the app interface. It, too, has also been updated to offer enhanced functionality and greater convenience. New multi-site support allows individuals to access more than one pdk io system from within the same app. Multi-site support The new multi-site support allows favourite entryways to be located at one or multiple locations For example, a person whose apartment complex and workplace are both secured with a pdk io system can control and open doors at both locations from a single log-in within the app. Or, if they have more than one job, they can access multiple work locations, with each site’s administrator retaining control over respective permissions for specific doors and times. Another new feature, ‘Favourites’, allows users to identify doors most frequented so that they can be accessed quickly from the first screen within the app. Again, the new multi-site support allows favourite entryways to be located at one or multiple locations. The features of the touch reader and touch app are just some of the many ways in which the pdk io platform has been engineered as a mobile-first solution, leveraging the superior flexibility, usability and ‘carry-it-with-you’ convenience that’s unique to smartphones. Decentralised system management In fact, pdk io administrators, managers, installers and technicians benefit from the identical user experience, whether they are logging into the platform through a computer, tablet or the mobile native app. This includes access to system installation and configuration tools, issuing of credentials, permissions management, user groups, monitoring dashboards, reporting and event-call up and many other features. Jeff Perri, President and COO or ProdataKey, says, “PDK has long espoused the benefits of a mobile-first approach to access control because it’s clearly what customers want; they prefer to use their phones for everything they can. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has made mobile-first even more relevant, both for its support of remote, decentralised system management and the touch-free benefits it offers to workers or tenants. Plus, our integration with many complementary security solutions from industry partners further expands the ways that security can be managed from the palm of your hand.”

ProdataKey (PDK), an innovator of cloud-based networked and wireless access control products and services, announced that Corning High School, in Corning, Arkansas, has increased its security and greatly enhanced its lockdown capabilities by installing the pdk io wireless access control system. Pdk io is a wireless, cloud-based solution that provides advantages such as around-the-clock accessibility, remote management, superior backup and redundancy, automated updates, and strong cyber security. The installation was undertaken by Blue Sky Technologies (Blue Sky) of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Wireless PDK solution The system is proving to be a useful tool for monitoring student traffic patterns and identifying problem behaviours Corning High School comprises seven buildings connected by breezeways, designed in an open style common to campuses constructed in the 1960s. Integrator Blue Sky chose the wireless PDK solution because it was perfectly suited to the multi-building layout, with no need to run copper or fibre cable to all connected door locations. As a result, material and labour costs were greatly reduced – a major plus for the small and budget-conscious school district. The installation includes exterior doors for each of the classroom buildings and a few other key locations. As budgets permit, additional doors will be added throughout the high school as well as in other district buildings. The wireless connectivity makes the solution exceptionally scalable; new doors can be immediately brought online through connection with the system’s wireless mesh network without additional infrastructure. Enhancing campus security In addition to enhancing the security of the campus by automating the unlocking and locking of exterior doors to align with the high school’s bell schedule, the system is also proving to be a useful tool for monitoring student traffic patterns and identifying problem behaviours. Faculty and support staff find the pdk io system to be much more convenient than the traditional locks and keysClassrooms are each allocated with ‘student fobs’ for use by students who need to travel between buildings during class periods when doors are otherwise locked. Their use of the fobs enables administrators to track where the students go, making sure they head to the intended destination (i.e. the library or nurse’s office) rather than elsewhere. Suitable access control solution for schools Faculty and support staff find the pdk io system to be much more convenient than the traditional locks and keys that previously secured most doors. Permission groups, managed through the pdk io software, control different access levels for teachers, administrators and custodians. Programming of special door schedules, as well initiating lockdown conditions, can all be handled by the IT staff using the mobile interface. Brian Duckworth, sales consultant with Blue Sky, says, “Pdk io has become our go-to access control solution for K-12 installations because the wireless aspect leads to such major cost savings for the schools, which are always budget-challenged. In addition, the installation process causes very little disruption for the students and teachers.” Keeping students safe and secure Pdk io is ideal for K-12 applications, providing educators with a tool that’s powerful and easy to manage"School Superintendent Kellee Smith adds, “We strive to make our campus a place where our students enjoy the freedom to focus fully on learning because they’re not worrying about safety and security. This solution is making our goal so much easier to meet. It’s also making the teachers’ daily routines less stressful and they really like it.” “PDK is passionate about creating technology that delivers security and peace-of-mind, and what could be more important than keeping our children safe?” says ProdataKey’s President, Jeffery Perri. “Pdk io is ideal for K-12 applications, providing educators with a tool that’s powerful and easy to manage, affordable, scalable over time, and is sure to provide value for the long term.”
