Spectra Logic, the deep storage experts, recently announced that Spectra Verde DPE, the company’s new Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR)-based NAS disk platform, is certified as a long-term video retention storage solution for the Milestone XProtect® archive database. The Milestone Solution Certification verifies that Spectra Verde DPE meets the performance benchmark required to support Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS), and provides the maximum performance available to video surveillance customers. Exceed benchmark values “Spectra Verde DPE is the first SMR-based, high performance disk solution to be validated through the Milestone Certified Solution Program, and we are pleased today to announce its inclusion in Milestone’s Solution Finder,” said Reinier Tuinzing, Strategic Alliance Manager - Americas, Milestone Systems. “Spectra’s highly-scalable disk solution exceeded benchmark values by a factor of two in the documented test parameters, and Milestone XProtect customers can expect exceptional performance with our VMS.” Spectra Verde DPE addresses present-day video surveillance storage challenges by easily and affordably retaining video at just $0.09 per gigabyte, 60 percent less than today’s disk-based storage systems. Verde DPE’s underlying SMR-based technology extends affordable long-term retention for Milestone’s XProtect archive database, allowing users to sequentially write and store petabytes of video data at a new market price point. “This accreditation from Milestone Systems also marks the first time that an SMR-based disk product is made widely available to the video surveillance industry. It’s a distinction that confirms Spectra Verde DPE is an affordable, long-term video retention solution for Milestone XProtect VMS, featuring competitive performance well beyond Milestone’s minimum requirement for system bandwidth,” said Brian Grainger, chief sales officer, Spectra Logic.
The new location in Bracknel includes a functional customer experience centre in response to continued company growth Spectra Logic, the deep storage experts, recently unveiled their new EMEA corporate headquarters in the UK. The move to a new location in Bracknell, which incorporates a self-contained, fully functional Customer Experience Centre, comes in response to continued company growth. Supports a training centre & Spectra Technology Centre Chief Sales Officer, Brian Grainger, discusses the reason for the move, “Organisations across Europe continue to generate and rely on ever-expanding amounts of data and our solutions are ideal to meet this growth cost effectively. As a result our team has nearly doubled in size and our reseller and customer base have also grown considerably. The number of countries we are selling into and the related support such as sales, inside sales, service, professional services and management has also increased. The new headquarters supports all of EMEA with a training centre and a Spectra Technology Centre – a place where customers and partners can use our technology in addition to getting technical service and sales training.” The design for the open-floor plan facility incorporated the input of employees and is consequently match-fit for a number of activities involving customers, professional services, partners, distributors and their teams. Key benefit for customers & resellers Apart from the office and conference centre, the new facilities include a hot desk zone, sales training areas and Demo Centre - a key benefit for customers and resellers who can see the entire range of products, enabling them to ‘try before they buy,’ conducting tests and evaluation on-site, without having to transport units to their own sites. From a distribution standpoint, bringing resellers on board is now a smoother and more versatile process, as it can be done off of their premises, demonstrating equipment in the Customer Experience Centre. Resellers can bring in technology partners and other vendors on-site to put together the complete solution. Spectra Logic can host end-users, resellers and distributors right the way through the life-cycle of the channel. Grainger concludes, “The new EMEA headquarters will allow us to facilitate our infrastructure and growth projections over the next three to five years – which takes care of today as well as growth expectations for tomorrow.”
