Introduction to ASUSTOR Data Master (ADM) ADM is the first NAS operating system in the industry to be designed around an App-based concept. Every ASUSTOR NAS comes built-in with ADM which provides an intuitive interface and usage experience. ADM also includes the App Central App repository which offers users a plethora of add-on Apps to increase NAS functionality, allowing each user to customise their NAS according to their needs. ASUSTOR is always developing new functions and introducing new Apps, pushing the boundaries and possibilities of NAS. The newest version of ADM, ADM 2.6, has recently been released and features C Library updates that allow ASUSTOR’s in-house developed functions and 3rd party developed Apps to benefit from the new library’s high compatibility and flexibility. Linux kernel updates also provide increased stability, performance and security. Furthermore, in ADM 2.6, ASUSTOR’s exclusive MyArchive technology has been expanded, with the number of simultaneous configurable MyArchive hard disks now being significantly increased to N-1. MyArchive hard disks also now feature newly supported AES 256-bit encryption* and can be configured to automatically mount on up to 20 trusted NAS devices for more agile use. Also, in addition to entering a password or importing an electronic encryption key for decryption users can also now bind a USB device as a physical encryption key. Additionally, ASUSTOR will be exhibiting the third generation of the ADM interface along with a preview of its brand new functions at Computex 2016. ADM 3.0 introduces fresh new design updates, 4K monitor resolution support, a new login page, App shortcuts, a system notification message board, App grouping function, and desktop widgets. The desktop widgets in particular, allow prosumers and professional IT staff to easily get a grasp on the system’s status. Smart surveillance applications Home security has been a hot topic recently. ASUSTOR NAS devices allow users to turn their NAS into an NVR (Network Video Recorder) free of charge. ASUSTOR’s Surveillance Center 2.5 provides usability, convenience and security. It optimises users’ Windows environment operation experience by allowing them to access the App interface from Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer Web browsers. Furthermore, ASUSTOR’s secure HTTPS encrypted connections have been also added to the video recording playback function, comprehensively protecting user privacy and ensuring safety. Surveillance Center also now offers more flexible recording quotas, giving users the ability to define recording storage quotas according to the storage space size or retention period. Additionally, different storage quotas can be configured according to different camera priorities allowing administrators to easily achieve effective recording using limited storage capacity. Also, compatibility for more than 43 different camera models from world renowned brands have been added for a total of 700+ compatible camera models. The local display function has also been enhanced in Surveillance Center 2.5. In addition to being able to view live camera feeds on TVs, users can also directly search and playback specific recording files via the timeline or calendar and hear live audio as well.
