Vicon Industries, Inc., designer and manufacturer of video surveillance and access control software, hardware and components, has updated its line of Valerus Shadow Recording Servers with Internal RAID, now offering higher-density 1U, 4-bay models with up to 34TB storage and even greater capacities for their 2U and 4U models. Up to 125 TB storage is now available in 2U models and new 4U, 24-bay models offer up to 262 TB.

Insurance against data loss

Valerus Shadow Recording Servers record and provide playback of video channels managed by the Valerus Video Management System. Each server supports systems of up to 100 cameras. For larger installations, multiple Shadow units can be deployed on the same network. The use of RAID storage provides insurance against data loss in case of a drive failure; if equipped with a hot spare drive, the unit can automatically rebuild and replace the failed drive with no loss of data.

With cameras with resolution as high as 12 MP becoming commonplace, the demand for video storage has never been greater. The new Valerus Shadow Recorders with internal RAID are designed to accommodate that capacity while making use of existing rack space,” said Bret McGowan, Vicon’s Senior VP of Sales and Marketing.
