Amidst heightened warnings from the FBI and EPA regarding potential cyberattacks on internet-connected operational technology, Invicti has announced an initiative to assist U.S. water utilities in fortifying their web security.
The threats underline a systemic risk in targeting inadequately secured assets that are exposed online. Successful breaches could lead to disruption of vital services, disclosure of sensitive operational data, and compel already taxed teams to engage in resource-intensive emergency responses. Web applications, administrative consoles, and APIs used for oversight and integration make up this often-overlooked attack surface.
Confirmed vulnerabilities and support
In response, Invicti is presenting eligible organisations with a three-month free access to its application security platform aimed at reinforcing this aspect of their defence. The technology aids public-sector and critical infrastructure entities in identifying web applications and APIs, including those assets that are unknowingly exposed online, and directs limited resources toward addressing confirmed vulnerabilities.
"Defence in depth cannot stop at the network perimeter," emphasized Priyank Savla, VP at Invicti. "Web applications and APIs are an attack path that critical-infrastructure operators cannot afford to ignore. They deserve the same continuous attention as the infrastructure behind them, because you cannot defend what you cannot see."

Qualifying organisations engaging with Invicti will receive assistance in the following areas: discovering and cataloguing web applications and APIs, scanning for security weaknesses, confirming exploitable vulnerabilities, and prioritising actionable risks. This approach reduces the time spent dealing with false positives during urgent responses, complemented by ongoing guidance and support throughout the three-month period.
Priyank Savla further noted, "Our goal is to help water utilities get a clearer picture of their web application and API exposure without adding more noise to already-demanding response efforts. We want teams to know what is exposed, understand which issues are real, and have practical support as they work to reduce risk."
To facilitate this, Invicti is offering guided onboarding and tailored support by an Invicti engineer to assist teams in scoping, configuring, and testing their web applications and APIs effectively. Invicti’s platform access is available by application for eligible U.S. water utilities, with operators encouraged to reach out for access and qualification verification.
