Reliable broadband connectivity plays a crucial role in enabling emergency services and public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) organisations to coordinate effectively, share real-time information, and maintain situational awareness during critical incidents.
Recently, Frequentis, recognised for its safety-critical solutions, and Lyfo, a specialist in network technology based in the Netherlands, announced a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to enhance network connectivity using 4G/5G technologies for safety-critical applications, providing high-capacity mobile communication solutions for emergency services and PPDR organisations.
Strengthening mobile networks
At the core of this initiative is Frequentis' MissionX, an integrated Mission Critical Services (MCX) solution designed to deliver secure, interoperable voice, data, and video communications across multi-operator 4G/5G networks, adhering to global 3GPP standards.
By integrating these technologies, the alliance aims to drive significant advancements in MCX solutions
Complementing this, Lyfo’s offering, Lyfo.net, focuses on a patented network-selection technology that allows devices to automatically connect to the strongest available mobile network. This enhances monitoring and prioritisation capabilities tailored for mission-critical applications.
By integrating these technologies, the partnership aims to drive significant advancements in MCX solutions. The expected result includes swifter decision-making processes, safer operational protocols, and enhanced public safety protection.
Advancing mission-critical communications
Frequentis’ Director of Mission Critical Services, Manuel Hintermayr, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are extremely proud of our long-standing partnership with Lyfo and are delighted to now develop it further. The combination of our 3GPP-standardised MissionX communication solution with the innovative, patented Lyfo portfolio creates unique added value for all safety-critical organisations, in line with the Frequentis mission: ‘For A Safer World’.”
Lyfo's CEO and Business Development pioneer, Maurits Zandbergen, highlighted the opportunities this cooperation brings: “We are honoured that Frequentis, a key player in the mission-critical communications space, has chosen to work with us on a vital element of the MCX service. This deepening of our collaboration opens doors for Lyfo which normally would have been closed and allows us to expand our further contribution in the MCX domain."
Zandbergen added that following introductions in the Dutch market in 2021 and recent expansion into the German market, there is a growing demand for their proprietary technology that enhances 4G/5G connectivity accessibility and availability.
