On May 3, 2024, Evolv Technology announced a partnership with Cape Fear Community College for its security screening program at the Wilson Center, the college’s renowned performing arts theatre in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The institution, a long-time user of Evolv's solutions since 2019, upgraded to the advanced Evolv Express® system in 2023. The current system, observed by a school official at Lincoln Center in New York, replaced older methods of guest screening, streamlining entry while maintaining security.
AI-based screening technology
The Evolv Express technology integrates sensor capabilities with artificial intelligence to accurately distinguish between potential threats and benign personal items. This innovation allows guests to pass through without frequent individual checks, reducing entry delays significantly.
Before adopting Evolv’s solutions, visitors to the Wilson Center were subjected to manual bag inspections and hand-held wand screenings. Reflecting on changes made, Tammy Daniels, the senior managing director of the Wilson Center, remarked, “Our security screening process prior to implementing Evolv was cumbersome and unsustainable. When I saw how quickly the system up levelled the safety of our venue and guests, I was so happy I was brought to tears.”

With the introduction of Evolv Express at the Wilson Center, known for hosting a variety of theatrical performances and musical concerts with a seating capacity of approximately 1,600, the entry process has noticeably improved. The efficient guest flow has enhanced the overall experience, allowing individuals to focus on enjoying events rather than enduring long queues.
