Consort Architectural Hardware has commenced the first phase of a major initiative to integrate Building Information Modelling (BIM) and CAD functionalities across its ironmongery product offerings.
This move is designed to bolster customer support and enhance digital collaboration throughout the construction supply chain. In this pioneering phase, Consort has introduced BIM and digital assets for over seventy of its popular products, which include levers, door closers, concealed bearing hinges, backset locks, and panic and exit devices.
This development signifies the start of an ambitious plan to incorporate BIM and CAD files for all product categories, demonstrating the manufacturer's dedication to transparency, digital integration, and customer assistance.
Growing demand for digital product information
BIM continues to be instrumental in the design, execution, and maintenance of contemporary construction projects
BIM continues to be instrumental in the design, execution, and maintenance of contemporary construction projects. Consort’s initiative directly addresses the increasing demand for precise and accessible product information within the built environment sector.
Daniel May, Director at Consort Architectural Hardware, reflects on the initiative: “As construction standards evolve and regulations advance, the architectural hardware sector must continue to innovate and adapt to meet the needs of a progressive, digital-first industry.”
May added, “We recognise the call for reliable, detailed digital product information is growing louder, and the first step of our BIM rollout reflects Consort's ongoing support to specifiers, contractors, and architects as they navigate compliance, efficiency and coordination at each stage of the project lifecycle.”
He emphasised that providing structured BIM files with compliance, certification, and performance data allows professionals to more effectively meet both practical and regulatory needs, while facilitating quicker specifications and enhanced collaboration.
Looking ahead to phase two
The second phase of Consort’s BIM rollout is set for launch in early 2026, aiming to further broaden the digital library. This expansion will include additional hardware categories, particularly focusing on narrower profile hardware and less-represented mortise items like flush bolts and thumb turns.
This ongoing development will assist customers throughout the door scheduling process, ensuring professionals have access to comprehensive, compliant digital product data.
